Stinky BK9

Truly Original Merchants Are Ridiculously Smoky.

Bury the sheath outside for a day or two - problem solved and your sheath will look cooler. That or smoke it good by a campfire. Heck - just get outside for a few hours and use it and it'll improve.

It was (hopefully) going to get dirty and smelly anyways so I don't see what the problem is? Throw the sheath in your yard, spray it with water for a few minutes and let it air dry for a day or two, problem most likely solved. Could even blast it with febreeze once in awhile while it's drying out or right after it's been soaked. No reason to stop ordering from them, that's just plain silly.

Everyone has an opinion and thats what makes this place so interesting. I will indeed find another seller for any BK needs in the future. It is not silly if my opinion is one where I feel a new product should not smell like stale smoke coming out of the packaging. For me it is enough to find another seller. No biggie just economics 101, TM's lost a customer by their own actions. I am not suggesting anyone follow suit as this is just my observation & choice in the matter. Thanks.

Tradewater: That is funny stuff!

take it into the woods and use the damn thing.

some natural air will help take the smoky smell out of the sheath

and some sweat and woods chopping should get rid of the blade

just sayin'

I've gotten great service from Tomars. It really doesn't bother me, but if they find out it's an issue with some customers my guess is they'll fix it.

So has anyone actually contacted Tomar's or are people just posting here?

Yes, I just did, and I've not even been a customer of Tomar's before! I just thought it kind of ridiculous that they may not even know that anyone is bugged by it. I just sent him a link to the thread, didn't comment on what the subject was. Maybe he'll comment here, maybe not. Maybe packages will be deodorized from now on, maybe not, but at least he'll have the opportunity to address customer concerns.
