I don't see anyone doing this but wondered if it was feasable. I'm looking into making my own sheath and wanted to do a norse style but move the stitching from along the side of the knife to the spine. Anyone try that or can foresee any problems?
When they stitch along the blade side they add a welt so the blade won't cut the stitching, I think you will end up cutting through the leather unless you line the sheath with Kydex or something else .

That's what I'm trying to avoid. I was going to follow these instructions found here for the scandi sheath (http://www.mamut.net/gjknives/) and was just wondering if there would be any harm in moving the stitching to the spine.
