Stock removal VS. Forging

In the end, all blades are forged whether at the factory or in the bladesmith's shop. All blades are also ground, as a forged blade has no cutting edge and will always need clean up.

If you want to get a really close and personal look at forging, plus actually do some forging with no equipment invested, take a look at this link:http://www.knifenetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59541
Travel time for you should be about 3 hours and it's a pretty drive. Come up Friday and stay through Sunday morning if you want. Should have about 12 forges going and plenty of experienced knife makers to help. No reason you can't forge a knife from start to finish including heat treat. We also have a good grinder so you can get some hands on grinding. No cost, plenty of camping on site, great meal Sat. and see what it takes to make a knife either way.
