Stock sheath for BK-11...

If you really want durability in the leather and a rattle/movement-free fit, wet mold the leather to the blade. It'll take a heavier leather than what the pictures show, but it is worth the effort. And, not much harder to stitch if you have an awl and some patience.

(I love IPA's too)

IPA's are great and all but there are just too damn many of em around here. I'd kill for another good Porter available around here... the microbreweries all make spectacular porters but Kona Pipeline was the only thing we could get for a long while and even that was a limited run. I did soak and press the leather-I used C clamps and styrafoam. It made a difference. I'm planning forest green with black lacing for the BK11, and black on black for the orange RC3. I have to go drop 10 bucks on dye tomorrow... Seriously though I don't think there's a better alternative for pocket EDC carry out there.

Leather hrm... I'm still flirting with the sheath that came with but now you have me thinking. I guess a leather neck sheath designed to keep the blade tip down could work and would look good. Hmmmm

I finished the HEST sheath last night. For a first time gig I was pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out, though I need to work on cutting technique when it comes to curves and such. Maybe a set of metal french curves are necessary for use as guides. I also need to work on being deliberate and more consistent with my stitching placement. Next step is to find a pocket clip somewhere so it can be worn as a low profile pocket, IWB or boot sheath. As you can see it's very low profile. I need to get some thicker stitching too, or a smaller punch... but definitely 100% functional and I think the design is sound. I'll start making round 2 and 3 for the RC3 and Paklite Skinner. This was about 5 dollars in leather, a 3 dollar stitching awl and a 5 dollar leather punch and a negligible amount of rubber cement, as far as materials. Total time investment was around 2 hours.
Completely possible DIY project? Yup.

PS sorry for the crappy photo quality, the L100 has the worst possible screen and I can't tell what the heck is going on while operating that thing... and for the huge images-I resized them in Photobucket but they refuse to load that way once I post em.

nice machete and knife
