Here's a pic of the small 'rust'(?) spot/pitting on the tang of the spey blade. This is what had me wondering about the blade steel. I cleaned it up a bit, but the pitting is still visible.

These were the 'after' pics . As I mentioned earlier, I spent a little time cleaning & shining it up a couple days ago. I used the Dremel/felt wheel/compound on the blades too, so they're a little more shiny now.

I'm still contemplating the best way to clean it up inside the handle. It does show a little pitting on the inside of the backsprings.
