Recommendation? Stockman or Trapper

OP did not say what these would be used for mostly. Like some others here, I don't like the Trapper because of the two equal length blades. I have one Case trapper and I always seem to struggle with it. If I can step off for a second. For me, the easiest knives to carry and use are single blades. Then come two blades at opposite ends. Thin, light and typically medium pulls. My experience, anyway.

Ah, right, I forgot to inform that the use would be light(ish) work
at home and garden.
I decided to buy Buck's Stockman for father.
What to buy myself is still open.
You fellows have give me alot of different options and suggestion, thank You for that.

I've looked for many blades and one new option I did find is
Case Cutlery's Canoe, one longer blade and another short one.
(Canoe Amber Bone (CA263 is it's number, I think) looks nice).

I did also notice Case's Muscrat, but 2 long blades does not seem
good choice for me.

For now it seems that I'll choose Medium Stockman or Canoe.

One question more, about Hen & Rooster, it's German company
and they make also Stockmans and Trappers, I wonder what quality they have.

Those are good choices Emden. While i really like Trappers i know that they arent for everyone.

I'd go with the Case Medium Stockman with pen blade, instead of the spey blade.

The all-German ones are reputedly excellent, but I don't have direct personal experience. This recent thread may be helpful.

Definitely a stockman, and Case makes lots of good ones. I'm partial to the big #75 pattern, but if you like something more pocketable, then I would look at the Humpback stockman, the #46 pattern. It's just over 3½" closed, and has sunk joints, so no sharp edges to catch in your pocket. Here's mine.

I normally don't care that much for the stockman pattern- but I just found one
of these and bought it because of you!

Jeff strikes - making the economy great again! I can't tell you how many knives I've bought after seeing them for the first time on Blade or AAPK. OH

A Case Medium Stockman would suit you well. If you like a full size pocket knife and wear pants with good sturdy pockets (or a belt sheath) the Case Large Stockman is a BIG one that will stand up to heavy duty use.

The Stockman is a great pattern. Three sharp blades on tap is a nice thing to have.

Well, since I could not decide, I did buy them both.
Now I have Med. Stockman and that Canoe!
:D I'm sure that both will be get used.

Million Thanks to You guys once more!!

Good choices. :)
I don't have a Case Stockman, but I do have the Case Amber Bone CV Canoe. A great knife that carrys well.

I vote for the stockman also. I prefer multi blade patterns that have their blades come out from opposite ends. The new 48 improved trappers are super nice, though.

EDIT: I see you went with both, the best decision of all :D

My favorite trapper is the Case mini-trapper, but I find myself carrying and using my Case 3318 yellow medium stockman in SS more often. It seems more instinctive in use. I do wish the clip blade were standard instead of a Turkish clip blade, and I had to file down the kick on the sheepsfoot blade so it wouldn't stick up too far in the closed position, but otherwise it's been great. I have a large Case stockman that has even better blade geometry due to its bigger size and wider blades, but IMO it's a bit too bulky to carry.
