I've only got one Congress and it's never been touched. It's an NOS Buck 303 I won in a GAW that was specifically ment for the knife to be passed to a new up and coming knife User/collector. My plan was to give it to my nephew and I still do but when I went to my neice to ask if I could give her son the knife she told me I was crazy that he was way too young so I'm just hanging onto it until he gets a little older I guess lol. I had my mother sew a pocket on the inside of my Jean Jacket so I could carry my Buck 110 when I was 11 and nobody thought anything odd about that lol. Times sure are a changing. I wish I could remember who I won this knife from I apologize for forgetting your name.

Hmm, never considered that actually Cal... I bought it off of the auction site like that a long time ago and always assumed it was an original abalone handled Ulster. I might have to take a closer look at it.

An somewhat rare one? It is my understanding Schrade (USA) only made the 858 Lumberjack for six years, from 1978 to 1984.

I've no idea why such a short run. At only just 4.625 (4 5/8) inch closed, it's just the right size for loose in the front pocket carry, and large enough to provide a full 4 finger grip when using it.
