Stockman Sunday picture show

Not currently part of my carry, but it is one of my favorite stockman's to carry. A grail knife of mine, until an exceptionally generous, kind, thoughtful, and anonymous porch member gifted it to me earlier this year. (Thank you, again.)

1978 to 1986 Schrade Old Timer 858 (no "OT" in this examples tang stamp).
I don't understand why Schrade only made it for just/only 8 years. Maybe because marked "Schrade +" or not, they all had stainless blades?
At a mere 4 5/8 inch/117mm, it isn't "too small" or "too big" for pocket carry, and gives an all finger grip. They did have an optional "S" version, that came with a sheath, during the last year or two of production, as well.

No blade rub, either, even though it is a two spring!

I'll probably drop it in my pocket again tomorrow, Tuesday. 😁

A pre-Schrade closing Schrade 80T well used and roughly sharpened but plenty sharp by a Navy buddy of mine who passed several years ago. Had it out this morning remembering old times as I handled it.

Perhaps one of the most useful cutting tools ever! I learned about knife maintenance and rust after a big water fight in a dorm when I was a freshman in college. I forgot I had my 8OT in my pocket.

Funny how tastes change or evolve. Was never a fan of the stockman pattern but I’ve grown to appreciate the utility of several blades in one knife and the craftmanship that goes into elegantly squeezing them into a small space. This Dixie in Copperhead is my favorite bone dye color and funny enough the only knife I have in this color. I’ve seen other GECs in very similar colors like antique yellow…not sure I could successfully tell them apart. It’s a beautiful knife, in craftmanship, function, and materials.
