I just bought a Buck Stockman on e-bay. It has 301v on the blade. Do you know what the v stands for? It is an awesome knife, brand new, and the blades are really sharpened nice. Also, on the Buck 110, what does the "c" or "u" after the 110 mean? I could not find the info on the search. Thanks!

The symbols after model numbers are year marks indicating when the blade was made by Buck. There has been a recent post which lists all of them beginning with the < for 1986. Buck substituted an anvil stamp for the 2002 planned symbol and for 2003, the symbol is a T.
By the way, the symbols are not totally accurate. They may just be close. For example, there were 110s in the marketplace in Dec. with the 2003 "T" stamp.

To follow up on Larry's post, the "V" on the 301 indicates that the knife was made in 1989. The "c" on the 110 = 1995 if it is rounded. If it is more square it means 1999. The 110 with the "U" would hav been made in 1998.

Thanks for the replies. That Stockman I got is brand new and so nice! Do you know if Buck made bone handles for those at any time? Mine looks like a imitation bone. Thanks
