stockmans are boring

for those interested a truce has been declared between the backwoods of tennesee where they only collect stockmans(sorry had to)and the real world out side of the valley of the stockman were people collect all kinds of different styles

Is it too late to change my vote again. I like these. :D

Glad to hear it. Once again, civility reigns here in the traditional forums.

If you fellas think stockmans are boring you should try making one. At one time they were the best selling knife in the US

Personally, I've tried having a meaningful conversation with a muskrat and he was quite boring. At least the stockmen had some good stories to tell. The moose, well he didn't want to talk and neither did I, so I ate him.

Come to think of it, the last I saw of the muskrat he was being served up in a fancy restaurant as "Marsh Rabbit."

Congress is annoying, but certainly not boring. Senators now are quite boorish.

:p :D

Some folks say a jack is boring. Never talked to one myself so I couldn't say. I don't know Jack.:D

Sorry to hiJack the thread. I have yet to make-up my mind on that topic. I know several Jacks. On the one hand, my colleague Jack works in the cubicle next to me in the office. He is incredibly boring, I wind him up all day and all he does is nod...extremely infuriating. Even though he lost his head last spring, he seems to get along well with the boss who is a real jack ass. I guess I really know three Jacks. On the other (third:confused:) hand, I play squash with my friend jack, he is quite nimble and quick and makes the most delicious beanstock soup. He once slayed a giant muskrat with his rusty jack knife. Unfortunately, his lean, but mean, wife hit him with a candlabra. She had caught him in bed with another woman... i think her name was Jill. Recently he had a tragic climbing accident and now only eats fatty foods.... you know the kind served by Jack my work colleague on weekends. Sorry this story pales in comparison to those of jackknife. So I take my leave to call Jackington, my sharp witted, but somewhat distant English cousin.

Wow! The rocks are nice; but is that box for sale?? It's kind of exciting really- - -not boring at all!!

Tell it like it is, Tony!!
Amen! Amen!

"I think there's one in my old rigging bag right now. Probably covered in rosin and rusted shut."

Must have been a roughstock rider. 20 years is a long time in that game. I only made it 9 years.

Personally, I find Muskrats to be the ultimate in boring. I mean, two identical blades? Please. Oh, I know the "reason", and the history, but it's still about the most boring blade configuration imaginable.

And to use one as ones avatar? Says a lot about a person. ;)

I don't think anyone would ever accuse one of your knives of being boring, even if it was a slipjoint butterknife.

Knowtracks - I think I got on my first one when I was 16 and my last when I was 36. I did have some slack years in there. Never went too terribly hard... made a few bucks at it - Circuit Finals is as far as I ever went. but I do still work full time in the BR business now.

When I was younger I always had a beat up old timer stockman in my bag, cause nothing beat a nice dull sheepsfoot blade for scraping rosin off a rope.
