A new Busse American Kensei 47 short sword was due to be delivered to my house on December 30. Well, at least the box made it. The sword was stolen out of the box en route, certainly by a postal employee. This was an $800 piece.
Buyers beware: if someone tries to sell this on e-Bay, or where ever, you will probably be stiffed if you pay for it. It has a desert camo colored blade and green-brown micarta handle. A very distinctive piece.
So, buyers beware! And shippers of expensive items - pack 'em up well and disguise the contents as well as possible.
Happy New Year to all.

Was there a small hole in one end of the triangle package or was it torn open? I ask because the point on the handle end of mine started a small hole in the box but it was still inside, if the AK-47 actually made a large enough hole, it might have fallen out and wasn't stolen. You should check with the Post Office, there was another person who posted a knife fell out of the package (it wasn't a AK-47 though) and got it back by asking the Post Office.
I thought the AK-47 was $587 + whatever extra the camo finish cost was, $30 - $40? What options did you get that ran it up to $800?

Yah, I agree. The knife could easily have poked a hole in the box and fallen out to the good luck of some Super Ninja Postal Worker:eek:

Sorry to hear about your loss. Also, having this type of weapon loose at a postal facility is a grave concern, we know how those postal types can be......

The post office will make you jump through HUGE hoops to ever collect on the insurance. It took me a year to get the insurance from two knives someone there had stolen. Fedex and DHL for me.

It wasn't stolen...it ate it's way out of the box!!!

Mine did the same thing.
My Postman handed me the box then the knife...it had torn it's way out of the box during shipping.
Same way...knife sized hole in the end of the box.

Busse needs to box it differently before shipping.

Be sure to file a complaint with the post office, and the postal inspectors, specifically.

You never know what they can recover for you.

Thanks to all for the advice. Remember, I was receiving the knife; I didnt send it. I tend to use UPS myself. But, it looks like the consensus is that it tore its way out of the box. In a way, that is encouraging. It may be found then.
Walking Man: sorry for the fox paws. I'm kinda new at this so I wasn't sure where to post.
Thanks again everybody.
Happy New Year.
