Stolen Knives. Keep your eyes open!

Wow I can't believe how many got taken that is sickening! I just kept scrolling and scrolling.

This just has stupid written all over it. Is this how purveyors transport their product? There is nothing secure about airline baggage. All of those knives together in one case? Come on! I imagine the insurance company will have investigators all over this one.

I can not even imagine how You are feeling when it happened or even now.
I hope that someone at the airport saw something that may be a lead and that it was on camera.
GOOD LUCK, I HOPE AND PRAY THAT YOUR KNIVES ARE RETURNED TO YOU and THAT THE ________ ARE CAUGHT.

I feel so horrible for Mike. That is a lot of knives including two Shmidts. And two knives I previously owned and sold to Mike including a custom order I helped design. Sad.

Yes, truly disgusting. You have got a $10/hour TSA employee inspecting baggage and he comes across a case with $100,000+ in knives in it. I doubt that case ever made it to the baggage claim.

In regards to transporting the products there's really no "good" way of going about doing it...

They can ship the knives to their hotel and quite often do, but that comes with it's own risks....

One of the best ways that I am aware of comes from another maker that likes to put a cheap handgun in with the cutlery as the airlines pay much more attention and have many more added security measures for transporting firearms than that of knives. It's a damn good idea, if you ask me...

I'm not so sure about the firearm in the bag helping with security. When I check a gun in my checked bag, they do indeed check that it is in a locked case and they mark my bag but, I don't think anyone looks twice on the other end. I have little doubt that the thief will be caught. There are so many cameras in all areas of airports these days. Whether the knives are recovered? That's not as probable.

This is truly sickening. So many beautiful knives in the hands of some turd who likely has no idea their value. He or she will take to local pawn shop and get what they can, then hopefully get caught by leaving a trail.

Is it possible to make this a sticky that comes up in all areas of BF? The more people that know about this the better!

OMG, this made my heart sink!!!  :(

I could probably pay off my home with the value of that loss.

Sure hope Michael gets these back!!!

I'm sure you know far more about it than I do, I've never checked a firearm on a flight, I was just told this by another knife maker and am recycling the information.

Absolutely heart wrenching to scroll down that page, knowing that they are stolen...so many beautiful pieces. :(
I truly hope that thief gets caught with all the knives still intact and undamaged, and damn right I'll be keeping an eye out.

To the OP: Thanks for posting this! I had no idea...

He said the area where the knives were stolen had video surveillance and the authorities have footage of the theft and a picture of the suspect, which is being circulated.
Sounds like the only promising news in this sordid event. ^
Sure hope these treasures are found, safe and sound.

super shitty deal.
I would trust the airlines the least for managing and transporting a shipment like that, at least with a courier you get extra layers of diligence and insurance.
