  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Stone Tool and Primitive Tech Show (pic heavy!)

Thanks for the kind words everyone! It was a blast. There's an even bigger event coming up this weekend (September 4-6) in Ohio, called the Flint Ridge Knapp-in. I hear it's impressive.

GREAT PICS! I got to play with some of that speckled tiger striped flint (what is the name of that stuff) last weekend, and picked over some choice left over knapins from a previous knap in.

I posted this in another thread, but we made these boogers too

Now you need to make one of those Hawaiian paddles edged with teeth...what are they called...Lei O Mano?

one of my favorite hobbies is looking for indian artifacts. i am lucky to have so much around me.. thanks for the pics and info

John looks like I missed a good time, and only 10 minutes away. Oh well hopefully next year. Great shots by the way. Just so you know my wife was watching some show and they were cooking fish and used Sumac for seasoning. Doug

I attended on Saturday. Everyone was friendly and chatty. I came home with a book(You can stay alive), a knife(Mora Filet), a log(Osage stave) and a stone(sceptor quartz). There was a rather comely native american lass that I wanted to take home, but I didn't figure the wife would go for it. Maybe next year. :D The guy in the giant teepee had some beautiful recurves.

I was really stunned by the color variations in some of the rocks for sale. From crystal clear with white clouds to the deepest black obsidian, and near every color in between. I really had to hold back from buying some knapping tools and kept telling myself that I already have too many hobbies. :o

That looks like a place that a man could spend all day in without ever thinking about anything else. Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

That's great to hear about the sumac! Tell the Mrs. I said hi, and thanks again for taking care of us all with the beef stew. :)

Letchworth is a pretty amazing place! There's a Native American cultural event coming up on (I think)the 19th. I'll try to be there.

I hear you, Never Too Sharp! I bought a reed section and used it to make a corncob pipe. I don't even smoke!

Man I wish we had something like that near here !!!!

Thank's for the pics !
