Stonewashed Rust Resistance

I've been considering getting an Emerson or Strider for a while now and was wondering if I should get one with a stonewashed finish. I really like the way it looks, but I want to know how good or how bad the rust resistance is on it. I know that the steel plays a major part in this, but I would like to know how well the finish itself holds up against rust, despite the steel.

The blades you are talking about are mostly S30V or 154CM. The difference between stonewash, belt finish and high polish finish really isn't a factor. Even a coating is going to be primarily cosmetic in almost all cases, and in the other few cases you should be thinking about something like H1.

A beadblast finish will be a rust magnet for sure.

I actually had minor rust develop on an uncoated Emerson Super Karambit in my pocket. Was able to scrub it off though against my boots.
