On my way to work today I stopped at a little knife show. I did not bring any money was trying not to buy anything:D Lucky there was a MAC near by

I saw Ricky (STABBER) and some other nice folks.

Came across a RJ Martin Kwaiken

Our own Les Robertson had told me years ago that if I like Hartsfields stuff one of RJ's pieces would be right up my allie

I have meet RJ a few times and he is a great guy

I am impressed with this little knife the grinds are great and the Bat Menuki is cool. I am very impressed with the sheath it is supposedly mahogony wrapped in carbon fiber with rare earth magnets holding it in. Pretty neat setup

I have a question for anyone that knows I see RJ is useing s30v for his Kwaikens and A 2 . This I believe is an older piece and I am curious which steel this is. Any help would be apreciated

Thanks John talked to P. Long the other day and he said he was looking forward to seeing you next week. Take care of my buddy for me.

Kevin it was a little show in Easton Pa. I have sold some pieces lately so I can buy some others. I have a pretty interesting piece coming from Bagwell in the new year. Other than forged Bowies my other big love is Japanese styled piece's and a few have come up on the used market that I could not resist. But honstly this is it for awhile I hope but I can't pass up a deal :D

Les or RJ what is this made out of I am Thinking A 2 because it seems to draw the magnets so well but maybe SV 30 does also

RJ rocks. That's a really nice piece you snagged there - congrats!

We better both keep an eye on Paul.
There's a lot of wild goings on in Nashville Arkansas. Especially on the weekend of Jerry's show. ;) :D

I wish I had a show to stop at on my way to work.
Great knife, Joe. RJ Martin makes excellent looking knives.

Love the sheath concept. I've been considering magnets for the sheath I'm building for this little Goo I picked up awhile ago.

Lorien I have had sheaths before that used Magnets and they seem to work well for certain applications.

Curious thing when I touched up the edge on this piece on a jewelstik I noticed the blade has become slightly magnitized. I wonder if this can be a detriment I don't think so but interesting

Joe, Kevin,

Just talked to Paul today when he sent the pic of the sheath for the damascus shell-guard. We're gonna have fun in Nashville. Wish you could be there, Joe.

Been looking at the grinds on your new Martin, Joe. You're really right, those are some nice lines.

John

John wish I could have made it also maybe next year:)

By the way I saw a pic of the knife and sheath and both are at a level that is beyond compare you are both artists and the finest there is in your fields. Congrats and have a great time

Sweet.
Man, you are getting a new knife everyday it seems.
That's what I was thinking, too. :)

WOW! Joe, I haven't even posted in your latest Hartsfield thread and here you come with a new(to you) RJ Martin.
Those grinds look WICKED and I hear tell he gets 'em screaming sharp.
Looks beautiful!
Congrats!

blood might stick to it more:eek:

Hi Joe,

I would go with A-2. Given the sheath it came with.

As they say up in Massachusetts: RJ's knives are "wicked sharp"

It was RJ's Japanese Tacticals that caught my attention 17 years ago at the Guild Show. I bought 3 or 4 and have been buying knives from RJ ever since.

BTW, how can you not buy something from Stabber? Weren't half the tables at the show his? :D

Ricky carries an awesome inventory of just about everything.

Les I did not get this one from Ricky although he had the best table there for sure. Thanks for the info I prefer the A 2

Here is the closest knife I have in my stable that compares to this Kwaiken

I have a few Hartsfield Kwaikens but here is a Strong Boy With RJ's Kwaiken

Both 1/4 inch both chisel ground both the pinacle of modern Japanese style tacticals

Don't ask me which I like best. Both great men both great knives. You guys are free to choose which you like best and I would be interested to hear

I love this size and style blade when I can't carry my bowies.

I believe the performance level of this size blade in this configuration is hard to beat in other knives this size
