I've had a code suitcase for years sitting in my bedroom without being used so i decided to fill it with the pick n pluck foam and make me a very cool storage case:)

With this system i can get rid of the boxes, keep the knives without touching each other preventing it from scratches and also rust.
I got the idea here:

Nice one Zyhano;)

Since i first saw it i always wanted to have this system for my knives but pelican cases are a little expensive so i decided to maximize my long forgotten code suitcase.
It's not the most awesome job in the world but it's very suitable:)
Still i believe pelican cases are the best storage sytem!

Here's what's in it:

It's still a modest but very dear collection and yes, i always remove the pocket clips:D
I'm waiting on you guys to help me expand it;)

Show me yours!

Thanks for looking:)

If I were a burglar, I'd want everyone to keep their valuables in convenient easy-to-carry cases. Very considerate of you. ;)

Just saying. Many members here, including myself, have had knives stolen.

You might check out Serpac / Seahorse cases. Similar to Storm and Pelican cases, but not so pricey.

The way I see it, if a burglar wants your knives - he's going to take them no matter how they are presented to him.

OP, I like your set up. I like zyhano's too, but it looks pricey. Every time I want to spend some real money on knife accessories, I end up spending it on another knife instead. :D

Looks pretty cool. Don't get rid of the boxes for the knives, though, because if you ever sell them or give them to someone, their collecting value is decreased significantly without the original box.

I know mate:) i am keeping them but not using them. just not using them anymore as storage:)

I will rater buy few extra knives... Considering the quantity of knives I have already accumulated that would be too expensive and too space consuming...

I really know what you mean. if i hadn't have my code case i probably would end up putting them on socks or something:D
By the way, i'm sending you a pm to your YT cannel.

Cheers

Looks good man.
I would keep an eye on those though, the foam can hold moisture and can induce some rust. I would throw a packet or two of desiccant in there or keep your blades lightly oiled.
I store one of my rifles in one of those hard plastic-foam cases and I just make it a habit to give it a light coat of oil before any long term storage. Which should be done in any circumstance anyways.

Nevertheless, It looks well done and I like the idea. That could also be one heck of an EDC. :D

Today marks the first birthday of my "quality" knife collection so i figured i should make an update on my collection:)

I think i'll stop buying 3" folders for EDC since my PT arrived yesterday...

The one I really wanted was the CC version. However it is very difficult to find so when i had the chance to buy this one i didn't hesitate.
It is all i hoped it to be!
Small and compact with very nice stonewashed blade and titanium side. Perfect for edc.
It has the best detent ever and i can't find any issues with it! No locking problems, good fit and finish, smooth mechanism and it even came sharp:D I probably got lucky with this one.
I love it!

I believe now it's time to move on to the bigger ones:)

Thanks for looking:)

Nicely done. Very smart finding a use for something you already have laying around.

Is that really considereded a suitcase? Looks more like an attache.

Good point.
Foam is really not that much worse than most things for holding moisture and leaching off oil, but it does need watching.
Unless the container is air-tight, dessicant won't really help much. It removes the moisture, but more just comes in to fill the vacancy. :D

Storage is always a bit of hassle. Almost anything you wrap or store the knife in has a greater affinity for oil than the steel does and tends to leach it off. One way to reduce the issue is to use something like Break Free, which is less likely to be leached off the knife steel by cloth, foam, leather, etc.

Keep my knives in two Heritage Gun Safes ~~ one is for my Rifles -- Shotguns -- and Pistols plus about a dozen knives and the other Safe is for all my knives and they are in there boxes names facing the front of the Safe so that I don't have to hunt & peck to find one.! Both Safes are bolted to the floor and the back of the Safes bolted to the wall. ADT security and 3 Camera's outside watching everything. You reckon they are safe from bad guys.? lol

I use a tackle box. Easy to change the size of the compartments, cheap, doesn't look like it's full of knives.

Nice collection, mantzao. In your original post, in the fourth & fifth pic down, what is the fourth knife down on the left? Thanks.

The last stage is what i'm about to talk to you about:)

This one isn't going to be a very long one nor will i show a lot of new knives you have not seen before. This is more of a an update on the stage of knife collecting that i'm at:)

I remember posting up a thread up a year ago (on other forum) or so asking if i should sell all the knives i had at the time just to buy a Sebenza!
Some said yes and some said no.
I followed my instincts and decided to keep them and continue to buy others until i could buy a small 21.

When it arrived i was extremelly impressed by it even though it was already used.
What struck me was that, for the first time, i found a knife that i couldn't point my finger at saying that there was something wrong with it.
The only flaw i could point out was the fact that there was only one thumbstud:D
After that purchase many more followed, as you can see in this thread, but for any other reason i was always underwhelmed!
I mean, i bought great knives along the way, like the Spyderco Para 2s just to name a few, but there was always something that, compared to the Sebenza, kinda put me off.
The slight blade play on all Paras and Strider; the lack of finguer guard on the Bradley; the stiffness of the Fantoni Hide action; the squared shoulders and off centered blade on the Buck Vantage Pro; all the known issues of the 1st run of the DPX Hest folder made me sell the new 2nd run as soon as it came from LionSteel as a replacement; the lack of sturdiness i (in my head:rolleyes:) of the Spyderco Chaparral and Leafstorms; the list could go on and on but i must say that some were sold just to buy the ones i really like.
This may sound picky and i know in some cases it is but that's just me:)

All this to say that, when i see something that i like i stick to it, even if that means i have to sell some so i can get one, wich was the case when i bought my XM.
So how does my collection looks like now?

Like this:)

As you can see I only own six knives now.
I never had the intention of having a big collection so this is good for me:)
I'm not saying that it will not grow or that i will keep all because, from what i learned, there is no such thing as keepers.
However i do believe that LESS IS MORE!

Thanks for looking:)

Well, you have certainly gone thru the knives. Just about everything there that I've pondered over, at one time or another. What you've ended up with is really very nice, although my "six" might not be exactly the same as your "six." Nevertheless, very nicely done!
All those Wilkins grips are nice also... I'm assuming the Hinderer is a XM24 and not an -18...or am I wrong? The Sebees are nice also, although I've not owned one. Seems like you could have found at least one Spydie to keep for a "seven" instead of a "six." :)
Nice set of blades.
I'd imagine you will change your list of keepers rather shortly, as it seems you have "the disease."

Sonny

Thanks Sonny.
It's an 3" flipper Xm-18 not an XM-24. The green Ritter is my larger knife so...:D
As you can see, i had a few Spyderco's and i love the brand but they still haven't made a keeper for me i guess:)
The one i enjoyed the most was the Paras but that damn bladeplay ruined it for me:mad: I wish they could make it without it!!

These ate my current top 3

Mantzao, I See No Spyderco Sage 2 In Your Collection!!!! You're Collecting 3" Folders And No Sage 2?!

I Just Got My Sage 2 And Love It. Now I Need A Sage 1... And A Sage 3 Lol.

Had a Sage CF but didn't like it!!
It was a bit bulky for my pockets so i returned it to the dealer.
I kinda prefer the Chaparral better.
That's why i never bought the Sage 2. I like it but never pulled the trigger.
