Store and Gun Branded Knives

Are there any good places other than eBay to look for some of these knives that are no longer manufactured?
There are but A. none of 'em are sponsored supporting vendors, and B. if and when you do get there, their stock tends to be cyclical because the guys who spend big money in this hobby spend a lot of time on those sites, so things move fast regardless of price and so those sites tend to price accordingly.

Had never heard of the Cowry X steel until now....but IIRC that was one of,if not the first stainless damascas knives
I think Ichiro Hattori was one of the pioneers of stainless Damascus. He omitted iron from the forging process and used nickel and stainless steel. Cowry X was one of the first super steels that i became aware of and it just isn’t exported so it must be a Japanese maker to use it at least then.

Browning and other similar companies were able to capitalize at least for a while making knives in Japan until late eighties when exporting from Japan became too expensive because of changing economics.

As far as the Ichiro Hunter and the original Browning limited piece release I think only the original Browning ones came in fancy packaging with the washi paper. Mine has a sheath though from maker which the Browning one did not have.
Cheers
