Store with Best Shipping Packaging?

Not sure if we're allowed to recommend online retailers here, but this doesn't have to do with deals or pricing. I'm wondering what online knife retailer has the best packaging for their shipments.

I've bought several knives that came inside their retail boxes, placed inside a bubble mailer. The knives have been in good shape, but often times their retail box is crushed a bit. Now this may not really matter to most people, but I often buy knives strictly for collection purposes, and I'd like their original box to be in good shape.

I'm eyeing a certain higher-end Spyderco that I'd like to get a couple of (a user and a collector), and I don't want the boxes smashed on my $250+ knives.

Any retailer in particular that reliably ships just a couple knives in a box? Any shipping method that would guarantee it?

Thanks!

Most smaller to midsize dealers would probably be happy to work with you if you called or emailed them.

I have had great luck with Knifeworks, BladeHQ, Kershawguy, House of Blades, USA Blades,
'and Zero Tolerance - the latter has really cool boxes that you just have to see to believe.
I would just say - order from a BF supporting vendor and you'll be more than pleased.

best

This probably hinges on a couple points. First is where you are located and second is what service/shipping cost you pick when ordering.

For me being in Canada nearly everything will come to me via mail USPS from America handed over to Canada post here; some places use plastic bubble mailers and some use the USPS boxes.

So yes if it's a nice knife and you want the packaging to look factory fresh check in with the seller before starting the order.

And don't forget afterwards to come back and tell us how it all turned out.

I really hate when stores do this double pack the box . With priority envelope and a priority shipping box . I called the store and sent them an email with picture telling them to stop being wasteful. Then we ask why ship is going up . And yes it’s a big time dealer and a paid dealer . I order from them again and they did again that’s two strikeouts.

If they didn't use the padded envelope, they'd most likely wrap the contents in bubble-wrap, or fill the box with some other packing material, so not really seeing the problem?

then the store should order bubble wrap . The reasons they use the priority envelope is because is free to the store so they waste .

They do it because all the postal supplies (boxes, bags, Priority tape) they use are free and are even delivered to the store for free. Wasteful yes, but they look at it from a business P&L view. Those shipping supplies are expensive to buy on their own.

There is a high-end kitchen supply store that has the absolute best sheath knife shipping I have ever seen. They have a box that is long, narrow, and fairly thin. Inside that study box, they have a thick cardboard tri-fold that is sightly smaller than the outer shipping box. The knife package is set on top of this tri-fold and then securely shrink-wrapped until the actual knife box doesn't move at all, then the shrink-wrapped assembly slides into the shipping box. The sheath points have custom-fitted plastic tip protectors, and the knives themselves are in slim, form-fitting cutouts in their packages.

I just ordered from blade ops and it was extremely secure. It was a medium sized priority box with the knife box secured in the middle and surroundedge with packing peanuts. Really secure and protected

That stuff is not free . They are priced into the priority shipping. So the more the waste the more the prices go up . Just buy a roll of brown rapping paper and rap it .

Very true, it is all built into the cost, I saw it first hand for 3 decades, I know it all too well.

I’ve found that knife dealers that support BF does an excellent job at securing your purchase. That’s one of the reasons I like to buy from supporting dealers. You do have some recourse if you’re not satisfied with the complete deal. There’s been several threads in G,B,&U that people have stated their concerns over and has been resolved because of dealers participation here.

Right, but you're gonna pay either way. Either USPS raises they're prices, which the company passes along, or the company charges more because they have to pay for packing material. Either way the customer is paying for it, so again, I don't really see it as a big deal.

I won’t get into the hole thing of who pays . I’ll just debunk your theory with facts. And they paid for the box no fee stuff here.

Would hardly call it a theory. Basic economics...the customer always ends up paying in the end! But anyway, your initial post mentioned two strikeouts. Are you saying that if it happens again you will no longer buy from them? If so, seems like an extreme reaction over their choice of packing material, but certainly your prerogative.

Unless they have an exclusive with M4 steel yea strike three and you’re out . Most dealers pack their packages with packing peanuts or brown paper and charge the same MAP ,
