Stories of "Winning" the Big Lottery (Hinderer at the Show)

I'm going to hit the store on the way to Blade and take Rubi's post into account. Adult diapers and a drool rag are on the list...:D

I am looking forward to hearing many stories and seeing the accompanying pictures as Our Members new lottery acquisitions start rolling in :)
A Day away!

Well...I was there Fri and Sat and no luck in the lottery. But....I was rewarded much more by putting a face with the name of so many great people I have had the privilege to meet on the forums. I was truly overwhelmed by the opportunity to create new friendships and share so many laughs with new friends. I hate that you didn't make it down Rubi...I would have really enjoyed meeting you as well. It was an incredible weekend.:D

Be there next year, Glad hearing how much fun everybody had :)

I actually scored on Friday. This would be my 3rd drawing I have been to. I was present last year at blade both Friday and Saturday. I was standing by a family that had good luck in these drawings, in fact the dad won a custom early on in the drawing. I was standing in front and about 20 to 25 in got my name called. I wanted a 3" slicer flipper, and stated that to Rob when I went to choose my knife. We both actually thought there wasn't one left, but in fact there was one. It was the DLC FDE that would have only been my second choice to the customs. Since the customs were long gone, this was the perfect one for me. As I was paying I was shaking at the pure joy of winning. Thanks the RHK family for another awesome lottery. These pics are already posted elsewhere, but here they are again. Quicky hotel room pics.

Bro im soooo jealous!! Congrats!! Thats a beautiful beautiful knife! I love the lockside finish...i can only hope to send a knife into rick to have that done some day!!? ;) alrdy saving for the nxt show. Great score man!!

Ps...funny your name has "LUCK" in it!! :D

I wasn't called in the lottery either but I wouldn't have heard where I was standing anyway. :)

I couldn't agree more with your comments, putting faces with names was great and I surely missed many opportunities. It was great to meet and spend some time with Chemdawg, Need2Know, AngryApe, ibewno3, and many others I met for the first time. The camaraderie is the best part about these events.

I asked a few guys at the booth about you N2K...I really wanted to meet you and put a face with the name. Next time...:D

I took this quick pic from the outer fringes of the Lottery on Saturday, Rick is in the center facing a lottery winner coming out of the crowd. There were easily 200 plus people packed around the lottery stage and believe me there were alot of whoops and hollers from the lucky winner's. I didn't win but was able to chat with Rob for a bit and meet most of Rick's crew. I was really impressed with the kindness and courtesy the whole crew expressed to everyone who stopped by the booth. These guys gave 110%!!! This was my first show, so it was kinda overwhelming but now I know what to expect next year. A big "thumbs up" to all the lottery winners!IMG_0521.jpg

Did you have a paintbrush applied ano. Bowie 3.5 with you?

We may have crossed paths and didn't even know it...

I bounced around a bit...I feel like a nuisance when I hang around any one place for too long. I'm not that kinda guy...I visited the booth often but never camped out there. Let me tell you, I kinda wish I had...for several reasons, knives being low on the list.

man thats awesome. would love to see a paintbrush ano. hinderer in person! hell, Id love to see just about any non production Hinderer! have yet to witness one in person. droolin over pics is as close as Iv gotten.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! I tried not to camp out at the booth also but the experiences I enjoyed and kindness displayed by like minded gentlemen far, far out weight any knife! Kinda feel like a 5yr old the day after Christmas!

I had my Q-Ball anod Spanto with me on Fri to share with a friend but not a paintbrush or Bowie.... darn....wish I'd been there to see that one.:D

I agree wholeheartedly "Winning" (ala Charlie) - comes in many forms not the least of which being able to meet and comiserate with Herd Members, BF members and the Knife Community at large. Nice folks, All.
Funny how that works, while there are gatherings I could not be hog tied with duct tape and dragged to (Opera Fans Unite, Ballet for the Balance Challenged, Hair Club for Backs).......When it comes to going to a Knife Show (especially if the Hinderer gang is there) it doesn't take much to get me there if it is possible.
Knife Folks are my kinda people:)

Perhaps Ape or another had it..I saw it from afar.

Last year I had a USN badge that helped identify me....hopefully next year (if I'm able to attend) we can all try and work out a badge deal of some sort...I don't like generic "hi, my name is name tags", but I'll proudly rock my username so those that "know" can identify me.

I plan to do far better in my meeting members in the future. Every knife show I've been to recently has not been the only thing I did in the area. I left the events a few times to run various errands and visit family in the area. In the future I hope to focus a bit more on the community and perhaps share a few more minutes getting to know more of you.

Hit the lotto Friday. Rubicon got it right in the OP.
I was standing there after about 8-10 names were called thinking, "i never win anything, might as well leave". Then the man himself spoke my name, at which point I think "no way, I must have heard him wrong". Very cool experience! Then the next day, I got a chance to talk with Rick for a little bit and had him put his John Hancock on the box and engrave the blade. Excellent customer service for such a renowned company.

All that was left by the time I got up there were all productions, so I grabbed (first hinderer so correct me if I get any of these details wrong) an ACU camo/FDE DLC with a stonewashed s35vn spanto blade. The quality just oozes from this blade.
