Storing Fixed Blade Knives

So I purchased my first knife about 8 months ago (an Esee 3) and somehow I now have about 10 knives and my collection keeps growing (wifey probably thinks they cost around $20 each). How do you guys store your fixed blade knives? Right now I have all of them in the sheath in my drawer and closet.
I had to double check this wasn’t me who wrote this. I had the same exact experience the same year and everything. This is a question I’ve pondered since I began collecting knives. I ended up getting a few harbor freights pelican style cases. All my knives fit in 5 of their large pistol size cases. Although several of them are scattered around my home, office, truck. I’m aLeah’s exploring options for knife storage, specifically 5-6” fixed blades with their sheaths.

I really like this idea with the shelving, however I disagree with you when it comes to the sheaths. I’ve stored all my knives in their sheaths for years, some of them over 20 years and see no signs of rust or anything else on any of them. I take them out to oil them maybe twice a year.
I’ve always done the same, only had one problem with verdigris on the brass guard.

Storing out of the sheath may not always be necessary but is the safe decision.

Old thread and the OP is MIA, but for the record.

I have 2 old blueprint files I use for my knives. IMG_8126.jpegIMG_1229.jpeg

As was noted already, some of the chemicals used on the leather, can cause corrosion.

Non stainless blades should have oil on them, brass can corrode as well. Ever seen what leather gun belts do to brass shells? That's one reason for nickle plating cases.

Always protect your gear.
