storing knives

Is there a certain oil that knives should be rubbed down with before putting away? Is one kind better than another? Or, should they be dry? Hopps #9?

I use the preservative grease RIG. Now back in production and sold by Birchwood Casey. You could also use a wax like Renaissance Wax.Keep out of sheaths. VPI [vapour phase inhibiter] paper can be used also.
