Storing semi-stainless tool steel knives in cars

A friend inherited a beautiful Colt SAA from around the 1920's IIRC Gorgeous workmanship. Left in the holster, one side of the cylinder has rather severe rust pitting. Such a shame.

When I did gunsmith work it was so sad to see all of the nice guns people had abused by storing them in a leather holster or a sheepskin rug. Shotguns and rifles were commonly stored for months in a sheepskin case under the bed where moist air sets. Rust never sleeps......
