hello, i just wanted to see if anyone has a reason why i should not store wood blocks in styrofoam. any problems with it. i found 2 nice size boxes and wnted to use them--thanks-marekz

Marek, I stored my wood on a rack with wire shelving to allow for air to circulate around it. Some people I know store their handle material in a cabinet with wire shelving and a light in the bottom to heat the air up and reduce humidity levels.

So long as the blocks are dry, and stay that way, it should not be a problem. If any of the wood is wet or water gets in, mold is a possibility. Stabilized wood is pretty much a block of plastic, any mold stain should stay on the surface. But un-stabilized wood will absorb water from humid air. Unless the Styro box is in an air conditioned space, I'd only keep the stabilized wood in it.
