Storm II, Lock Issues?

3G,

Judging from the contents of Post 16, all is copacetic between the principals of this discussion. Is there some reason you felt the need to stir the pot?

I have always supported Kershaw/KAI USA with both my money and my word of mouth (including here on these very forums), but from what I've seen here of how some Kershaw representatives have addressed their customers' concerns, that may change.
3G
3G, I've always appreciated your kind words, but I'm not sure what got you so hot under the collar with Craig's responses, as I didn't see them as you did. By the look of yerscattergun's last response on the subject, he seemed satisfied as well.

I do agree that yerscattergun's original question was not completely answered from the factories perspective, yet I'm not sure we are obligated to answer every question. I will say we're pretty direct and forthcoming the majority of the time.

We put ourselves, our work, and our emotions out for everyone to read here on BF's. We probably give the forum more info than we should. We do it because we feel it's important to communicate directly with the end line consumer. You may not agree with everything we say on every post, and I wouldn't expect you to, but to hold our organization to the fire over Craig's response seems a bit over the top.

Hell I've really had a hard time around here in the past. There has been arguing, disagreements, name calling, and I have left because of that on multiple occasions. I dropped my Mod status, don't even sign my name, and have removed my bio, because of a lot of crap that has happened from the past. I say this in an effort to show that from all sides it's not easy to please everyday all day, and you know that G3.

Personally it is difficult to believe that your feelings about us as an organization can be changed due to what Craig posted earlier in this thread. Then again, who am I to tell anyone how to feel. I'm still just learning my way around here myself.

I have got to say thanks to Thomas again. I have well over 1,000 knives and now buy Kershaw and Buck when ever possible due to the way they represent themselves here. You will NEVER make all of the people happy all the time. Kershaw offers a great product at more than fair price. You can find some strange defect in any product you look into. I don't see this as a defect ( as many other things people complain about). I am 48 and grew up with most knives being made with cheap steel and loose blades. Todays knives are a step above the knives of years back in many ways. Kershaw ( and Buck) have managed to do this with many knives still being made in the USA and still at a bargin price !!!!

I think we should be grateful that a guy like Thomas comes here to provide info and help where he can. Lets not chase him away with minor complaints.....

rbmcmjr,
To answer your question, most likely for same reason you decided to ask that question, because I saw something that didn't sit well with me. I don't consider voicing my opinion to be "stirring the pot," but maybe you do. Opinions vary.

Thomas W,
I certainly do appreciate the fact that you took the time to reply to me personally. What got me "hot under the collar" was my perception (I believe the OP got the same impression, BTW, judging by his second post) that he was being "called out" for asking an innocent enough question about a model of knife he stated from the get go that he liked very much. I can certainly understand how difficult it must be to put up with the "haters" and trolls, however, from my perspective, the OP is neither, just a guy directing a question to the people who would be most likely to know the answer.

I certainly don't expect perfection on the part of a company's reps, but when they start getting overly defensive and putting words in people's mouths by asking baiting, sarcastic questions, that tends to raise a flag for me. The reason I took this particular issue so personally was because I had the same question the OP had (but not pertaining to the Storm model), and was going to ask it as well. When I saw Craig's reply to the OP, it upset me, and I put myself in the OP's shoes, the only difference being that the OP seems to be a bit more tolerant than I am.

Thank you again for addressing my concerns. The kind manner in which you replied leads me to believe I may have been premature in thinking about dismissing Kershaw from being one of my favorite knife companies.

I think we should be grateful that a guy like Thomas comes here to provide info and help where he can. Lets not chase him away with minor complaints.....

Tom,
It is most certainly not my goal to "chase" anybody (with the exception of the occasional troll) away. I saw something that didn't sit too well with me and spoke up. That is just what I do.

Regards,
3G

3G, we have seen Thomas take leave before due to overwhelming him with minor complaints and endless questions about some small possible defect in the knife. I know we all have our own little quirks as to what is or is not a defect in any product, but lets remember that Thomas is the head of a sales department for one of the top names in the knife industry. I have always felt he went above and beyond his job by reaching out to the buyers of his products to see what their issues were and to try to report back to his company on how their products are viewed by the hard core knife nuts. Most Kershaws are sold to people who are not on any knife forum and who may or may not know anything major about Kershaw. Thomas joined two months before me on this site, and I have seen his attempts to be heplful end up in a session of non stop complaining about what I see as minor customer service issues. Let remember he is a senior guy with Kershaw who has taken his own time to share new things with us the hard core knife lovers. Please if you feel the need to complain about how the sunlight at two o'clock on a gloomy day cast a shadow on the finish of the Kershaw you bought and that "just ain't right" then please share those concerns with the 800 complaint number at Kershaw and lets allow Thomas to remain unmolested as a source of high level information from Kershaw....Thanks !!!!!

The above was not directed at any one member just a request to all to remember who Thomas is in the Kershaw world and how we need him here to keep us in the loop !!!!!

Just a note to let everyone know that I will no longer be posting on the forum,

Thomas will be happy to answer questions etc.

I take personal pride in our products and that obviously affects the way I word responses to customer questions and opinions.

I am not a Salesman - I run the Factory, I tell it as I see it - Sorry.

Everyone take care and enjoy the products.

Craig.

This kind of s#!t p!$$es me off!!
A fine top level person that goes above and beyond, ran off
because of petty @$$ BS!!

Craig, please don't let the trolls and $h!t stirrers run you off.
You guys do a great job here answering our questions and concerns.
I dunno what else to say.......I'm just pissed!!!!

...Don't have to say that I agree with svrider3 totally...Don't let 'em push ya out Craig. Many more of the folks in this forum value and need your input as much as we do Thomas's, than those that won't take it. As a relative "noob" to Kershaw I'll need as much input from guys like you, Tim and Thomas, who are on the point at Kershaw, as I can get. No one can push hard enough to be able to push you guys out. "We" also out-number 'em...and "we" push harder...:thumbup:

Hold the phone here everyone!

It was my suggestion that Craig not participate here on the forums. Trust me on this, it's for the best.

We need Craig focused on making knives (anyone seen the RAM on the street yet?), not messing around here.

Personally speaking, I think the original question asked in this thread, and what G3 posted were both warranted, and I don't have a single problem with either of their posts.

Time to cool it!

I'm trying to Coach.....real hard. It's not the OP are G3 that set me off, it's
just that this isn't the 1st time stuff has happened like this. I tend to stay
off the controversial topics just for the fact of my rant above. I've bit my
tongue many times because I value my membership here and enjoy the fun
of talking knives and having a good time with you and the other fine folks here.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my rant(wasn't my intentions) I just get
tired of the trolls and Kershaw haters that rarely post here just looking for an
opportunity to jump all over something.

Again, sorry for the rant.

SV

SV, you're going to be OK...you want a rant? Let me tell you about this beautiful Groove Thomas won Sunday and then out of the kindness of his heart, gave to me. Well, when I got it...oh wait...someone snuck in and snatched it away from me! I guess I'll have to wait to rant about something else...perhaps...hehehehe!
