Now I realize this isnt a very high end knife, but I like it. The knife fits my hand perfect, and locks up like a pro. The only concern I have is that after only about a week and a half of use the blade seems to be getting spots of rust. I make sure to rub the blade clean after every use, but evidentally that doesnt work as well as I had thought. Does anyone have any tips on how I can remove the small spots of rust that have formed, and possibly prevent the knife from rusting further?

Flitz or some other quality rubbing compound then apply some
car wax to the blade after cleaning. Works like a charm.

Also, consider a "gun cloth," a silicone-impregnated cloth (such as from Outers or Birchwood Casey) to wipe down the blade between uses.

RiffRaff thanx for the suggestion...BTW I use Hoppes on my firearms, that should be ok for knives as well correct? Also I would like to hear what you guys think of the knife. Like I originally stated I like it. Fits in my hand perfect and was razor sharp out of the box.

The Storm is one of the most overlooked Kershaws in their line up. I have some of the Storm II's, and they're big, beefy and all around tough knives for the price. I really like the up swept tip of the blade.

I have used this one to cut/chop branches away from my hiking trails, for about a year now.
It replaced a Buck 110 that loosened up very fast doing the same duty.
No wiggle at all in the Storm's blade and it's thin, easy to sharpen, can't beat it for the price. It's been wet, but not allowed to stay wet after I come indoors and no rust at all.

My friend has one, I think it's pretty decent. I think it's a bit thin for its size, and I wish the flipper was bigger, but it's pretty good knife, especially for how much it costs.

I'm carrying mine today.:) I've had it for years and no rust to date.

Just a good solid knife.

I like it so much I even bought a spare, in case they are not made anymore.

Dazed, good advice here, especially about the silicone cloths to keep it wiped down. If it's rusting there is already a corrosive element, likely salt present. Make sure you wash it off before lubing the knife or you are just slowing down the rust.

A good wash in hot, soapy water, or a good oil bath, flooding with WD40 will help. I'd use the hot soapy water. It will get the salt out of the scratches/pores of the metal. Dry it well before relubing.

You can always use steel wool, sand paper or whatever to get rid of the rust, but then again washing the stuff off, and relubing it is necessessary.

It's a great knife, and built well but it is made of steel so just take care of it and it'lll last longer than a lot of more expensive knives. I really like mine. Joe

For two months the Storm 2 is my main EDC folder. Cheap, robust, reliable and scary sharp. I love it :) - I think I need a Storm 1, too... :D

I love the Storm. Easily one of my favorite Kershaws, and easily my favorite under 50 dollars. I prefer the small one though.

It's a bit odd to be rusting so easily....never had trouble with that on my sandvik...

But yeah, you can always polish it out with something with a little grit. Be careful not to wreck that fragile satin finish though. Although, a mirror polish might be more resistant...

Thanks everyone for the input. It was very small spots of light surface rust which actually was taken off with a rubdown with some oil and a sock. lol. I washed the blade off and then used the Hoppes #9 that I use for my firearms and it seems that its working fine, leaves a thin film on the blade and now my oily hands dont even leave prints on it. BTW does anybody know what model that is in SPX's sig. Its a beaut thats for sure. Thanx again!

Dekz is correct. A Colt Officer's Model (extensively worked!) and a Mini Mojo (bone stock - no work necessary!)!

The Mini Mojo/Mojito is an often overlooked gem in the Kershaw lineup. Wicked little big knife!

While we're on the subject, what's the difference between a Mojo and a Mojito? I googled them but couldn't really come up with anything, I also noticed that both seem to always be "mini" is there a large version of either/both?

I just ordered a Storm II. Looking forward to it. I'm also tempted by the Groove.

I use Rem Oil on all my knives, and have never had a problem with rust.

Mini Mojo: 440A blade steel. Mini Mojito: 13C26 blade steel. To determine the difference, check the Born On Date. If it's JUL 07 or later, its the Mojito. If earlier, its the Mojo.

The closest that Kershaw makes to a larger version would be the Speed Bump or Spec Bump, without the built-in flipper safety. (But I'd still like to see the Mini done exactly as is with a 3.5 inch blade! :D)

The MM's are a GREAT knife!

There's something different about the inserts, too. I know redrummd prefers the Mojo for his dinosaur scales.
