Storm II-opinions wanted

I just got the Storm II. My first impressions are:
All edges on the frame are nicely radiused.
The thumb stud is rough and uncomfortable.
The blade is hard to open with just the stud or the flipper. Using both simultaneously works best.
The blade edge is sharp and the relief is thinly (hollow) ground.
The lock bar moves over so that 100% of the bar is beneath the tang. It's almost exactly flush on the left side so it still has room to wear in, although most framelocks I've seen don't move over this far.
Made in the USA. Seems like a bargain for $30.

The thumbstuds can be a little rough at first but you will get used to it soon. The more you play with it the better it will open. I have 3 of them. 1 standard and 2 Tanto and they all open very smoothly. They are a great deal and very durable.

I'm curious where the lock sits on your samples?
Also can anyone compare the Kershaw Groove to the Storm II?
I've been on a framelock buying spree lately. Before the Storm II I got:
The Spyderco Byrd Catbyrd
The Benchmade Monochrome
The CRKT My Tighe

They are all pretty nice with subtle differences. The CRKT was the most expensive and I think I like it best. It's the assisted open version. The scale prevents lock bar over travel. There's no stickiness when releasing the bar. It's smooth. Comfortable to grip.
The Monochrome is also smooth. The handle offers less grip thanks to the simple oblong shape. Some stickiness in the lock bar.
Catbyrd has the thickest and widest lockbar. It seems like it would take the longest to wear out and perhaps take the most abuse. But it's almost painful to release the lock bar because of a sharp edge and rough jimping. I sanded it down which helped a little. Also this knife does not open and close as smoothly as the others.
The Storm II came with the sharpest blade edge of the four.

After doing some research about the Storm II (BTW, thanks to the OP for starting this thread :D), I've placed an order for one.

This'll be my first Kershaw, so I'll post my initial impressions here when I get it into my hot little hands!

After roughly a month of EDC with this blade I couldnt be happier. Never, Have I ever gotten a knife with such good fit and finish with this price point on it. Im sure you will be pleased Maybeso.

My local Walmart clearance priced the Storm II part serrated for 21.
I may get one tomorrow if they still have any, don't need it really as I'm knife poor.

hey man,i had the same problem with mine, but it stoped for some reason.i have the 440a version so maybe different structure of the steel or somthing like that.if you want to take the spots off(dont know why you wouldnt)just do what the guy who posted first said and you should be set.good luck

I had one and liked it. Opens nicely and locks up well. Feels good in the hand. I was a little uncomfortable with its looks, though -- kinda mall-ninja like to the point I felt like I couldn't use it in public. Your mileage may vary.

I encountered rust spots, too and have had a few with my other Kershaws in the same steel. They come out.
