the KK was the small one, i timed this burn and got 50 seconds to boil point, using 3 oz's methyl hydrate (boat stove alky fuel)

Ive built about 15 different meth stoves. Most didn't work that well. I like the pressurized pop can stove the best so far. Up here, in the cold and wet it seems to work the best with a primer pan.

Like the idea of using it with a Kelly Kettle. I have wanted one for a long time, I just keep spending my $$$ on knives. ;)

Good stuff.....

Question... how much alcohol are you adding to the tuna can, and do you have a inner wall inside?

Holly cow that flame is something........... No kidding when you say do you want your tea now or do you want it NOW......... You can cooke some eggs on top of the kelly for a complet breakfast...

i dont think you'd want to cook anything with the flames comming out of the vent on that alcohol powered kelly.

i love kelly kettles but of course they're way to bulky for backpacking or trekking.

however when it comes to car camping and canoe trip nothing is better. i've seen a few different versions of the kelly kettle out there. the idea that you can run it off of alcohol is pretty darn cool. thanks for the pics.

about 3 ozs of methyl hydrate. Its just an OPEN tuna can, with abotu 8 - 1-0 3/8" holes punched into it.

please note that my fast boil times was timed at SEA LEVEL, where i reside. Your milage might vary.

Stove alky (methl hydrate) is what boaters use in thier alky stoves and ovens to cook and bake, down below in the galley. Its Coast Guard approved for enclosed space cooking, with a minimum of a 6" x 6' window open or fresh air piped in. . Its perfectly safe. just dont drink it) I've cooked steak and eggs in a cast iron fry pan (held it with gloved hands), heated up thick stews etc. No sense in wasting all that heat.

i do use mine for backpacking (the smaller one). I plan to get the big one fo the truck.

They make a 2 pinter, just have to look for it amongst the various vendors that sell Kelly Kettles.

the best part about it is the NO smoke signature, and the flames are invisible during the day., compared to burning wood or grass or paper.

Stealth tea making!
