does anyone remember who posted about using the aluminum beercans for the stove idea? was it a post on here or did i see it somewhere else?? i need to find it...i am bored and need to make one

Do a search (here or google) on "alcohol stove", commonly made with beer or soda cans.

yeah i have made those...this one was very specific about the aluminum bottles...like the budweiser select type..

If anyone finds this info I would be interested as well. The aluminum bottles seem to be sturdier than cans and a little smaller diameter. Chris

I presume this is not the standard 2 chamber jet flame version? I can describe that stoves construction method.

No and no, I am talking about this http://www.gossamergear.com/cgi-bin/gossamergear/White_Box_Stove.html.

I am sure if I held one in my hand I could copy it but the web sites do a good job of hiding the construction and I am not willing to pay 20 bucks to see how it's made. I have a pretty good idea and am going to buy a six pack of the bottles and start experimenting. Chris

Chris, you might find like a lot of things that the long way is the short way, or in this case the cheaper way. I think most 'handy' people see a Firepiston and say to themselves, Pah! I can make one of those, no way I am paying $XX.

$20 is hardly a kings randsom for something that you know will work from the start.

just my unsolicited ;) .02c

I am in no way being cheap or trying to steal an original idea, my go to stove is a trangia. I just like to piddle and try to figure things out for myself. Chris
