Straight handle Steel Hearts......

Great collection ducci! Thanks for the info. Would you happen to know the chronological order when those were released up till the FSHs?

Finally, would you please stop grinding the SHBMs in to SHs so that some of us can get our hands on them? ;) :D

I caught up with randucci, because I was bummed the first pic in post #1 died.

I’m very grateful he obliged my inquiry … and still had the pic. Here’s a repost:

O.K., here is a progression of Steel Heart handles and blade plunge lines from left to right:

- SH1
- BBSHSH with larger radius Plunge line
- BBSHSH with straighter plunge line, but still has angle cut on front and rear of handle.
- BBSHSH with larger radius plunge line, but has no angle cut on front and rear of handle.
- SHSH with smooth handle.
- SHSH with partial straight grooves
- SHSH with full straight grooves
- SHSH with diagonal grooves

Geez Cobalt Cobalt don’t you know anything?
(uh, feel free to correct / enhance any info, please)

SH-1, A2 & ATS34, ATS34 = less than 200 made (start? to 1993-ish)
BBSHSH, A2 (start 1994-ish to end?)
SHSH, A2 or INFI (start? to end?)
Ok, When it comes to INFI vs A2, the way to look at it is with handle slabs. I remember when the transition from A2 to INFI happened and it was before tubes came in the picture, well before. Smooth handle means that there is a higher chance that your SHII is A2, and a possibility of INFI. Partially grooved handles is the opposite. These knives are most likely INFI with a very slim chance of A2, fully grooved handles regardless of slots or not is INFI. Maybe 1/10 of 1% that it is A2.
I had a smooth handled SHSHII that was sent to Busse and verified to be INFI. With the smooth handles, you basically assume A2 unless you are told by Busse otherwise.
