Here are a couple hunters I fashioned after Bob Loveless' Straight Hunter. Both are tapered tang. The ivory micarta has a flared butt and is very ergonomically formed (that is the direction all of my hunter handles are going). Black & Green has a palm swell and is also very comfortable in the hand

Steel : CPM154 CM @ 59-60 HRC
OAL : 8-1/4"
Blade length : 3-3/4"
Furniture : Nickel Silver
Scales : Ivory Micarta ; Black & Green Linen Micarta , both are backed by a red liner

Blades are hollow ground and both are fashioned with a tapered tang that slims down to about .040 (slim ;) )

Both knives come with an 8-9 oz. veg tanned leather sheath also made in the Loveless fashion. They are hand stitched using Barbours #6 cord pure flax sinew. Edges are coated with gum tragacanth and the sheath is coated with atom wax then wet fit to the knife. They have a nice snap fit. Knives come with a nice soft side zip case and lanyard

Cost : $ 235 shipped in the contiguous U.S. Other countrys shipping will need to be determined.

Those are very nice. The white micarta with the red liner is elegant.

Some really great work has been posted here this week.

David,
I gotta go with J22, I really like the red spacer with the ivory micarta. Very clean package! Bet it doesn't make the weekend.
Matt

Thank you very much Matt . Thanks also j22, and I couldn't agree more ! Some very, very nice work being posted by others here

David,
I got the hunter today and I think it's your best work so far. The size, scale and finish is first class. The balance is excellent and the edge is sharp, sharp.
The shape is very much like a "bird and trout " but with a slight drop. Very nice knife.

Thank you very much Dr. - these two are still available, somebody needs to pick them up and take them hunting!

Those are very nice. Just curious why you didn't do the flare on the butt end of the black & green micarta, since you mentioned this was the direction all your hunter handles were going.

Good question Mick ;) The word that first comes to mind is "chicken" :D I don't know if you're a knifemaker or not but as my skills progress I try new and different techniques. I was first exposed to that style handle after seeing some of W.C. Davis' work (Excellent !!), but didn't have the courage to try it. The black & green Micarta handle is the 2nd stage in my handle finishing progression (palm swell style, tapered forward and back from centerline), the ivory micarta is the next stage. It takes a bit more time to do but is worth the extra effort. Both are very comfortable in the hand though. What you see above is a fork in the road in my progression of skills as a maker. Thanks for asking Mick and thanks to all for the kind words  :) Now someone take these guys on a hunt ;)

Well, if that's a fork in the road, I'd say your progression of skills is coming along quite nicely. :) A knifemaker I'm not, just someone who appreciates the many talents exhibited on this site.

Here you go David. I thought this pic might give you a little help! Keep up the good work! Mike

That's a great looking knife!

Blade forums sometimes never cases to amaze me. I posted the pix to give David a visual of the Loveless palm swell. I thought this might help him out in his endeavors. This is my only reason for posting the pic. I could just have easily posted one of many pic's I have here of actual Loveless Knives. But it isn't my place to do so. I have no interest in selling a lovett Knife here. At present, I am over 8 YEARS Behind in orders. Apparently David
received several e-mails complaining about my posting the pic. I guess that on blade forums, as I have been told by many makers, and collectors, It just doesn't pay to try and help some one out. some one always tries to make something ugly out of it. Out side of my very good friends Bob Loveless and Jim Merritt, I am probably one of the most qualified persons here to try to help out a newer maker on the subtleties of the Loveless designs. but as on so many occasions here at blade forums, I wonder why the hell I bother. I will probably be discussing this with B and J M later tonight. We do still have a sense of humor! Mike

I saw mlovetts name under the reply to this post,I tricked myself into thinking Mr Lovett was listing one here
Thanks Mike,You nearly gave me a heart attack.....
Love your knives
-Vince
BTW David, those Loveless style hunters look fantastic.
