straight razor

Hello I received a straight razor today with the name Scnefel Bros and under that Newark N.J. The handle looks like pearl but I can not tell. Is there any way to tell ifthe handle is real pearl? I have never seen a blade shape like this one but it looks like it was made this way by looking at the way it fits in the handle. Does anyone have any info on this razor? It is probably "mother of pearl." Which is a euphemistic way of saying oyster shell.

Thanks for your replies. There is some rust on the blade, is there any way I can remove the rust without harming the blade or should I leave it alone? Thanks for the help, John

That is a corn razor. Or at least it is now. I may have been a full razor that someone ground down. Not for shaving, but for slicing off corns on your toes etc.!! I use Mass/Flitz and a Dremmel buffing felt to clean these up.

The handle may be cracked ice celluloid, but it looks more like pearl.
