My question is how to straighten a blade after ht? Do I just re ht it and try to straighten then? It's O1, about 1/8 in thick, 9 in long. It has a slight curve to it about in the middle. Any help would be great.

Put it back in the temper oven, clamp it to a straight section of angle iron, place a thin shim under each end so it moves just past center. Leave it in the oven at your tempering temp for a couple of hours and check to see if it straightens. Repeat and shim if necessary.

Next time, try hand straightening fresh out of quench. 01 will allow you about 5 minutes to straighten before it sets fully.

This method worked great tonight at work on a chisel ground tanto made of A2.All told it took 3 tries to straighten it out,it probably had a .050 or .060 bow in it.I know i ground it too shallow.1/4 inch thick with around 16 degree edge.
