You are stranded on a sub-tropical island with nothing but the clothes on your back and no sign of rescue for possibly many weeks.
You come across an ancient magical stone axe that will grant you one wish ....... to provide you with one knife of your choice.
You choose ........ ?
 
When I think of subtropical, I think of hardwood forests and we're restricted to a knife eh? I'd go with a Khukuri. Comes with a built in burnishing tool and a smaller blade. Will do everything I need an edged tool to do.

Hmmm...if it can grant me one wish, I'd wish for 1000 wishes(I'd really piss off a genie in a bottle :D ).

Tough decision...probably my Randall #14 O-1. That might be too small though...One of my large bowies...most likely the WKC RTAK, or my Gerber BMF, or...can't decide. Sorry.
 
Either my SR Camp Tramp (which is now reground to a flat-grind and scary sharp and I tightened its sheath) or a Busse Battle Mistress. Hard to decide between those two, though.
 
id get one of those new Victorinox escapado models...you know, the ones where you pull the toothpick out and put it in backwards and a 10ft inflatable motor boat with satelite navigation inflates out of the other end......

Sog Powerpliers - for general usage tools - in the TiNi finish to reduce the care requirement.

You guys are insane, if im going to be there a while im going to want to build a hut or cabin or somehting, i would like to see you take a tree down with a SAK. I would take my BK&T Patrol Machete, it will cut whatever a small knife can cut, maybe not as well but it will take down trees too, something a sub 6" blade will not do, at least not in your lifetime.
 
I think I'd use the axe for cutting and wish for a hot chick that's forced to fashion her own clothing out of native materials, darn! no knife! I guess it's naked time!
