it is plainly a 124 blade but i have not ever seen any thing like this.
i do not have the knife as yet but the pict does not show any number or custom mark
jest buck usa.. and on the off side from 124 markings..
i seen a delaware weaons display theme 903 but dont think this is that

bought it to put it on the wall at home as it is a wall display art work..
any sujestions as to what it is are also welcome
for now i guess it is a buck tribute to a old stag

If it says "Lestat" on it anywhere, then I know what it's for...

And you only collect 110's...

Are you sure it is a Buck custom??? At a WAG, I'd say some mangler stuck that nicely done stag on the guard/grip just because it was too nice to sit on a shelf...but I'm guessing you have insider info that it was a Buck employee job... :D

Odd that the writing on the blade is sideways...

Looking at the third pic, I don't see any sign of the Buck 124 guard under the stag...

Thank you I'll be here all week-remember to tip your waitresses.:D

ps: I hope it was just gas as well:o If not, cut affected area away with Buck Hartsook, allow 30 minutes to dry and then apply medium grit sharpmaker rod
to affected area using an up and down motion to clean thoroughly-rinse and repeat:eek:

nope i did not see a guard either and
it dont say nothing but sideways buck - usa
which is how a lot of custom bucks are marked sideways
blade profile matches 124 in picts
in sider info -hee hee hee now that's funny! :D;):p
have jest asked dumb questions like any one else can..
only ask more offten them most..
if dick dont know i am sure he will be on to finding out
he is the one that realy knows were data is!
have sent off questions to the FM to see if they have any data..

will look good on the wall
and it will be one 124 no one else has!!!
may take it to texas and show it to the two biggest
124 folks i know..
suprised they have not commented yet?....

up date:
here is what i got back today

"unobtainable " humm quite a word to use
was it a program/collaboration that was not obtainable ?
this knife is comeing from a seller that lives
in the same town as the franklin mint office /plant
i wander .. could this be a proto type?
it is garrash enught to not have been a seller

Where on earth do you find this stuff? :)
The oddest thing about it, to me anyways, is that goofy stamp. You see the space between the BUCK, and the U.S.A.? Thats where a model number used to be. Every now and then, when engineering/specials needed "just some sorta stamp" for a knife they were mocking up, they would use and old stamp from another model and just grind out the model number.
I know this is going to sound stupid...but the blade does not look heat treated. I dont know what it is about it but darn it, the blade looks soft!
I also seem to remember doing a fixed blade project for FM years ago that used that hideous deer head as a guard. It would not surprise me in the least that it turns out to be a sample, possibly from that project.

i look real hard, take chances and beg if i have to ..
some times dumb luck..

man am i glad you seem to recall doing some fixed blade for FM

from what FM said on the phone and the email
paper records on projects that did not pan out
are archived and wont be in the accessible data base.. :(
they said sounds like a project they they did not follow up on..
and most likely a former employee got it and
now it is "out there" ..
that this is not the first time..;)
sound like some thing you heard some place else before?:D

hay when i get it would you like me to send it to you?
could be some one there will recall that garish buck's head?
sure would like to learn more on it ...
time will tell..

Dave,
Is the end of the pommel covered with something or can you see a threaded fastener 'er something?
I asked around and someone kinda remembers sending samples like that. I am fairly certain that we did end up doing a project for them but it was not stamped BUCK. My guess is that we sent the knife you now possess, and they ended up asking for a completely diferent blade shape.

well when it gets here i will photo it for the forum and
then send it to you for show and ask were you work!
as bucksway says
even a blind hog gets an acorn now and then..
