Strange Feeling!

Change of plans. I took Maggie out about 5:30 yesterday afternoon, and all of a sudden she just froze up. There were two coyotes coming from the other side of the shop, and one coming from the bushes between me and my neighbor. I did not have my .38 with me. I yelled, and they looked at me, then finally walked away. I`m switching from the 5 shot .38 to the 16 shot 9mm with hollowpoints. Three coyotes and only 5 shots does not sound too good!

" I`m switching from the 5 shot .38 to the 16 shot 9mm with hollowpoints"- Saftey in numbers?? LOL!! Just kidding. When they are moving fast- it is not a time for marksmanship bragging rights. It is time to put them on the ground. Ruger 10/22 or AR15 are my preferred tools. The Glock 17 is the most convenient and works as well.

Around farms, I tend to "run into them" and the flight mode is on, so putting them down is first priroity. They like to catch cows giving birth.

How well does the 10-22 work on coyotes? I was thinking of taking the scope off of mine, and taping a flaslight under the barrel.

Out to 50 yards or so- great! Beyond that penetration may suffer buit I am not sportsman hunting- I am killing threats to livestock so more than one shot is fine by me. The little 10/22 carbine works SO well- short, light and pretty rugged. 10 fast rounds for surprise sightings and accurate enough to place a bullet well if there is time. 1.5-4.5 Nikon Turkey Plex is fast but can still be precise, parallex setting is good. I do not use hollow points but CCI stingers are good for close work- they are not as accurate as some others for my rifles. I also have a MarkII pistol that does really well with the Stingers though.

License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote. :D
