Strange Knife Brand hangups?

Spyderco and non G-10 or FRN handles. If its a Spyderco with a metal handle, I don't care, whether its Stainless Steel or Titanium, it goes right off the list. If I see one with wood or bone or something, right off the list too. I don't own any with Carbon Fiber, but I would still consider it at this point. I think I associate Spyderco with really light weight for blade size, and this gets messed up by heavy metal handles.
That's weird, since Spyderco originally started with SS handles.
Noob. ;)

I will say I wont buy anything with serrations unless its a Spyderco and a specific version of there serrations.

The only serrations I have found to like are the very aggressive ones found on the Old Endura's and the Paramilitary. My sister bought me an SS SE Endura so I knew I had to keep it and it grew on me. I got the Para in a trade and those same big deep serrations grew on me. Every other knife with serrations I'll simply not own.

Other than that if I like the way a knife looks and has good materials I'll give it a try.

"Kershaw Mafia? I know nothing about any Kershaw Mafia"!

Benchmade: Axis Lock is a MUST!

Spyderco: Spydie hole, Light weight, FFG only! Favorite knife is the police 3 followed by the endura

Kershaw: I honestly dont care for the skyline but any other knife by them AO is a must but with some knives its ok not to have it.

Buck: I love bucks with wood handles and brass or nickel bolsters so that is a must! And like someone posted above me i must be able to handle it first.

KABAR: I love basically all KABAR but the one thing that they need to have is the mounting material for sheaths, i realize that all of them come with it but when i received my TDI in a trade it didnt have it but i just got it from KABAR today so im happy.

I definitely have a predilection for axis lock benchmades. I do not yet own any non axis lock benchmades. I also really like the warren osborne designed benchies. The 930, 940, 950, and 960 are all awesome in their own way.

I feel it is a bit of a bastardization to buy a non-spyderco knife with a deployment hole. Spyderco just knows how to incorporate the hole into the design better than other makers.

I feel that assisted openers are the territory of lower cost knives. I don't know why I feel this way but I do. If I buy an assisted knife it is going to be a kershaw or a SOG. Period.

So, am I all alone in this, or do you guys have any Brand/Feature hangups that really stick for you?[/QUOTE]

Thats funny because i am exactly the opposite when it comes to spyderco. Give me anything but frn and g10.
