This is my first batch of spalted Sycamore from Southern California.
Great contrasting colors, snakeskin patterns and a couple even have some burl.
Professionally stabilized by K&G.

Just ordered another block of Koa. The block I got this week is some of the finest looking wood Ive ever seen.

Hey mark,if you don't mind me asking what's the best way to sand after stabilization? I'm going to get a drum sander or belt/disc rig for that purpose

Sorry, I meant to flatten it out before use.
I use a drum sander to even out the thickness at coarse grit 36 to 60.
Then I go to the stationary belt/disc sander to sand finer.
For your use I think the belt/disc would be fine. Costs a lot less as well.

Looks like they all sold.
I will post more as soon as I am able.
The sycamore will be a regular wood in the webstore.

Those look beautiful Mark. I hope you get some more of it as I'd love to try it out! In the meantime, can you maybe tell us a little about the density and strength of this wood? I've never worked with sycamore before and I've had some issues with spalted wood in the past (yes even stabilized spalted wood)... Thanks

I have a bunch more of this that is getting stabilized by K&G.
I have trimmed away any soft spalt and am using only the hard portions of the wood.
The sycamore takes the stabilizing really good. Nice weight gain and very smooth finishing.
I am having some dyed as well. The flecks usually resist the dye for a cool look.

Thanks Mark - I look forward to seeing the next batch. Hopefully I'll get here fast enough this time!

There are a few dozen at K&G right now.
Plus I just sent them 2 more boxes today.
So it shouldn't be too long before I have more.

Awsome looking stuff buddy! Hopefully I can pick up a couple from the next batch.
