I hike most every day and often carry a camera, I shoot thousands of photos each year.

In all my time in the woods, I've never had something like this show up.

First up, while bushwacking in the woods on Friday I spy this old chimney.

Here are two photos from Friday afternoon taking a minute apart.

Note the "orb" in this second shot.

Seeing these photos my lovely wife insisted we hike back up there to take more pictures.

Here's a series of three I took on Sunday.

All three of these photos where taken in quick sessesion with the same camera settings,

...You be the judge. !!!

Um... Whoa! That is pretty crazy. Did you get any close-up pictures of the red thing in the middle of the fireplace? What is it? Any signs of a foundation around there was somebody just very safe about their fire at their campsite? This fireplace is obviously used by devil worshipers now, but do you know how they use it?

If you were in a movie, you'd be haunted by the bright orb until you hiked back there (at night and totally unprepared, of course) to smash the orb. You'd almost die, but manage to smash it with a rock at the last second. Everything is cool with your life until several years later in the middle of the night you see a single bright flash as you drive home...

I suggest we leave my ex wife up there overnight

if she does not return--we will know something got her

worth a shot

:)

It's the Ray Mears Camp Fireplace Mk VI.
First 3 days of a 5 day bushcraft course are spent building the cooker.
On the evening of day 3 Ray lights the fire and cooks up some brandywine and nettle stew.
All the happy campers pitch their little pup tents in front of it in a semi-circle and sing happy camp songs.

Don't worry about it being an eyesore, when Bear Grylls passes through with his TV crew he'll break it down to build a bridge across the closest stream so that he can avoid the grizzlies that lurk in the ferns.

PS That's a really nicely built old fireplace. Wish I had one of those at home.

G'day Big Mike.

The angle that any veiw is taken from, can effect the wave lengths of light that are reflecetd to the viewer (which necessarily includes those that are captured by the pictures).

Have another look at your original pictures one and four. Notice the gap between the tree in the background on the left hand side of the chimney?

Now have another look at picture 2, 3 & five. Notice how neither of these show a gap between the tree in the background & the lefthand side of the chimney?

IMO what you have noticed is nothing more that the slight change in angle (that is shown by your pics that have been taken from a slightly different angle) and are recording the different wavelenghts of light that are being reflected at these different angles.

But then again, if you and others have seen the Blair Witch project, you will all no doubt think I'm wrong.

Kind regards
Mick :D

IMO what you have noticed is nothing more that the slight change in spiritual vibrations (that is shown by your pics that have been taken from a slightly different angle) and are recording the different types of ghosts that are being reflected at these different angles.

I fixed it for you!

Howdy Mick, the one thing that I know is that the two photos showing the anamoly, though taken two days apart, where taken with me standing in the same spot.

Another factor worth noting; both images where taken using a forced flash, i.e., it was bright enough not to trigger the flash.

When I went back on Sunday, I shot many photos using the foced flash, but only that one image showed anything.

Something to always consider when Orbs show up in shots is your lens. Lets say the front of your lens says F=5.6. This has to do with the quality of the lens and the amount of distortion it causes. The best built lenses in the world are around the F=1.2 to 1.4 range, the lower the number the better the lens, im generalizing here. When your lens says 5.6 on it that means that only 1/5.6 of the light that enters the lens makes it to the film or sensor. Think about looking through a cheap magnifying glass, the image is terribly distorted everywhere but the center of the glass, what your lens does is only use the image from the very center of the glass, the rest of the light is blocked out. 1/5.6 is equal to 17.8%, the remaining 82.2% of the light (which is blocked) bounces around inside your lens and sometimes comes back out the front, that's why if you look into a lens it looks like an eyeball. Well, some of that unusable light can find its way to your film or sensor and cause streaks and orbs, all it will take is for you to move a fraction of a degree or for your autofocus to adjust ever so slightly and an orb shows up... or not. These are especially true in night shots where people say there was no light source to cause it or anything for the flash to reflect off of, it could have been anywhere in front of the camera and it simply bounced around inside the lens until it found home. Or maybe these are ancient spirits, ive taken my share of pics in graveyards at night, either way that fire place is wicked, where is this? Just my 2 cents from my days as a photographer.

Nice pics! In the later series I noticed the dog. If the dog's okay, no problems!;)

My dogs, Aiko and Jake, were with me both days,

...they shown no change in behavior or attitude,

...though my wife does act a bit strange at times.

I like the ones where you can see faces in the rock. First an obvious one, then another, and another. This one has at least six in a row.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who saw the dog. For a minute I thought it was happening again....

Oh! It's your dog! Thats much better than being stalked by a hell-hound. (The hell-hound that stalks me is on the couch, his name is Kirby)
