http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280452456628&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
it will be in my 110 displays with the others!
i can not call it a 317 because of the handle ..:thumbdn:
it has a 110 BLADE so it is a 110... ;)
after all it is mine now so i say it is a 110 ...:p:D
i say it is a 110 slippie..
but is it really a 110 SLIPPIE?
i gots to know
so awating MR. 300 thoughts
is it a 110 slippie?

surprised:eek: i won it also..:D
now i gots to find the money before the wife finds it!

Yep, I saw it as well; went for less than I thought it would. Congrats

P.S.: It's not a 110!! :D

I had that one on watch. I would be interested in seeing that one with the 110 blade open and the other closed. Joe didn't show that particular shot.

Well congrats Dave...very interesting knife. g

will post picts when i get it in hand

Wow, cool thing is, is that someone had to do some real work!

317's were camillus made, while 110's never were.

Would love to know the details of fitting that blade in that frame!

Congrats! Went for less than I had thought. I looked at it in passing but didn't get into bidding on it.

Dave- I don't think it's a 110 so you can just send it to me:D Don't want to get the 110 collection confused or jealous.

Will be a great display item for the shows!

thing is i did not see this tell only 30 min before the listing ended!
i totally went over it as a 317 i did not need
was not tell i put in buck +110 did i see it..
then i di dnot think i would win it
figured some 300 collector would scarf big time on it!
now figure quite a number of 110 nuts did not see it either!
really the most unique experimental 110 i have seen
and thing is - it really really was an experiment of can we do it !

Yes Virginia it is a slippie. A factory 317 experiment. Not a 110 slipjoint.

Did I want it, yes and no, if Dave wills it to me and I live a long time I will take it. But I figured he or one of you other 110ers would spend 2 Cnotes to get it, I wouldn't.

It is a one of a kind, an experiment. You see Buck still gets discontinued knives back for the 'forever warranty'. They are out of 317 blades and were checking out material options. One of the guys figured out a way to put a 110 blade in and they were seeing if it could help the no 317 blade situation in any way. (via JH)
So Dave it goes on your one of kind shelf. If someone besides the factory had stuck in the 110 blade it would not be worthy to enter the great hall of the 110 King. 300Bucks

If you missed out on that one, the opportunity for a do-over exists! This one has micarta handle scales.

File work and no rear bolsters too :D

Actually I like the one you picked up, better than the one that was just listed

yes ITE looks to be lot of work on that one..
Joe also has a reserve on it..
wander how much ?
value to have both would be ....
well greater then price of each by it self togeather!

well great if there is NOT a 3ed or 4th one!
wont say what my reserve on my bid was ..
but cant bid on this one at all now..
so slippie guys have at it ..:(:(:(:(:(

I think you did well Dave. I really liked that 317 for a folding hunter display. In an email with Joe, he brought to light that there is a thought to bring back the 317. Camillus had the dies, so new ones would have to be made, but it is a very popular model in the secondary market. Buck could do it as a retro folding hunter, with various handle material options. Do big "slippies" ever go out of style?:)

That would be cool. My first real knife was a big ol' Case folding hunter very much like the 317. I managed to score a pretty much mint 317 awhile back and really like it. It would be great if Buck would offer it with some handle material options.
