strangest 110 i have ever seen!

I have a rear-end and a opinion.

Number 2, 110 bladed 317 makes no pretentions that it is a original knife body with a blade replacement. It is a 'customized' knife. Leroy could have made this same knife if I had sent him a 317 body and a 110 blade. But because Buck has a COA for it, it has value as a custom made Buck, '317' LIKE knife from the "Custom Shop"

Number 1, 110 bladed 317 has had only the blade replaced as an attempt to analyize possible blade use to allow warranty work on discontinued 317 slipjoints.

Like I said in the beginning, everyone has an opinion and a rear end. Chin up Dave.

Well, I went back and re-read the item description. There is no mention of "1 of a kind" or a Certificate of Authenticity. We all know what the knife is, but I don't think Joe should pressured in any form or fashion. If you have buyers remorse...let me know...there's always room for 1 more at my house;)

+1 I don't see any mis-representation or anything that said it's one of a kind. I'll take if you don't want it.

I think you did fine and I would display it proudly!

Anything from the custom shop is $100 these days, so to have something this rare would be well worth it if I was a collector! Not a lot of cash to have a rare item.

Hope you like the deal when the smoke settles.

you guys are right and i knew it jest shortly after the other was posted
no there is nothing mentioned but that it was any thing but 'Unique'
the disappointment is my fault ...

i read the heading, seen that it was a 'unique blade'
and assumed from there 'unique' has more then one usage
that there was a 2 listed 4 hrs later was surprising
reality is as stated - it meets my hopes i had when i bid..
that they did the 2ed one later.
we all know but years from now who will remember,
with out a coa it will become jest a Unconformable data point.
300 sums it up up rather well

and i have not meant to imply i dont think it is not worth what i will pay

btw: as of now i am kind of embarrassed i expressed
my surprise and temporary disappointment..
i meant and implied, no reflection on any one
jest really caught off guard at the appearance of a 2ed one..

I think you did well Dave. I really liked that 317 for a folding hunter display. In an email with Joe, he brought to light that there is a thought to bring back the 317.
Camillus had the dies,
so new ones would have to be made, but it is a very popular model in the secondary market. Buck could do it as a retro folding hunter, with various handle material options. Do big "slippies" ever go out of style?:)

some thing less then 2 years ago the blue dyed
"proof" blades for the 317 come up for sale!
i lost the bid by 4$
dont know were the die for the frames went..

got word from Joe on the knife 110 317
there was one made some time back took a long time and lot of work to do
Joe thought of that for some reason and wanted to see if
he could cut the time and labor down to were it is practical to repair one

so this was was experimental blade replacement by Joe
to see if he could bring the cost down making it to practical to do.
he found a better way to do it, and cut the time down a lot ...
but still not reasonable to do as warranty work ..

he showed the knife to some one and
they asked if he could do a custom like that..
so he tried his hand at it and it is the 2ed one he listed
so there was his first straight experimental one and the custom one
both are unique in their own rights
mine in that it is a true experiment/protype intent work ...
the custom in that it is real sweet looking yet radical too..

and i am happy with my knife
especially as it is one Joe did!
an it will be in my atlanta displays..

btw Trivia for the 317 folks
if you take two with different broke blade 317's
and try to move the blade from one to the other
it wont work! every one they tried has had issues !

Glad everything is smoothing out for you. I could see where you would be a little disappointed after seeing the second one listed.

They are both great knives
