Strapped for cash

Short term solution - Do simple handiman jobs that require a strong back. Most people over 40 or 50 can't or don't want to do hard physical work that is easy for a 20 something. You would be suprised what you can charge for this kind of work.

Long Term - Go back to college and triple your income. You can buy more knives and hire someone to do hard physical work when your in your 40s and beyond.:)

yea, unfortunately the only solution is: make more money

...you could try selling Mtechs' on ebay.
the profit margin is decent. for slush funds anyways.

I am so amazed at the amount of Microtech knives on eBay. But if you are going to sell on eBay, you would have to get your items at wholesale or purchased at a deep discount to turn around to make it a go. So you would have to have some startup funds first to make money - something the OP don't have at the moment.

Im not entirely sure but I think he is talking about Mtech knives (the cheapo ones) not Microtech...but I could be wrong...?

old wheelchair, ratty clothes, 4 or 5 day beard, long coat so they cant see your potbelly, good street corner. :thumbdn:

Marriage is great, but single life has more knives![/QUOTE]

I didn't start my $3000 dollar collection of Puma's until I'd been married 26 years, LOL You can only do what you are able. crawl before walking etc

Donate blood or plasma as regularly as you can.

Sell or trade items you don't need.

Worse case scenario get a 2nd job for a few nights a week.

This might not be the most fiscally responsible method, BUT, if you are pretty sure of having the additional income in the spring, try to find a credit card which will give you 0% apr on purchases for 1/2 a year and go crazy. =)

When the time comes that you have to start paying interest, you'll have the extra cash you need. Only problem with this is that you generally need pretty good credit to qualify for those deals.

P.S.: For all you single guys out there: If you have an evil temptress (aka girlfriend) in your lives, start saving, and investing in knives. Marriage is great, but single life has more knives!

you are definitely right, single life has more knives! And not only knives, but whatever I want that I can afford and not have to worry about hiding it from the wife or girlfriend, whatever the case may be. And since I don't have either, I am free to roam the forums and collect whatever strikes my eye. And if I don't like it, I can sell or trade. I have yet to find a 'temptress' -- most of the women I know look like female lumberjacks, so I'll stick to my hobbies. :)

You're quite right, a distinction to be kept in mind. Though the Mtechs aren't bad.
As for being strapped for cash, what else is new?
It's the fate of all collectors.
All of them get distracted by other commitments, of course.
But how sad it would be to have nothing else in your life but your one hobby - especially if it puts metal over people.

Someone said ealier about odd jobs.
I made alot of $$ when I was younger just cleaning gutters, splitting wood, washing cars, even buying groceries for busy rich people. Lots of older couples and single older women. One great old guy always needed help taking loads of stuff to the dump. With families so seperated geographically now, I'd bet you may find alot of people around you that don't have a grandson or nephew around to help with some of those kind of jobs. Everyone hates cleaning gutters! Sweeping driveways! Put up a flyer where your wife is attending school. I'd bet you'll get calls pretty quick.

Good Luck.
