Baer first began using this new resin impregnated wood material circa 1948 and called it "Propwood", then "Strata-wood", and in the mid fifties "Wonda-wood". This evolved into propriatary trade names Fibron and Pakawood. The resins and processes evolved over time, but the material is essentially the same. I'm sure that Baer wasn't the only manufacturer to adopt this material but he was one of the earlier ones. Boker U.S.A.'s George Schrade plant also used it circa 1956-58. Ernst Gerling in Germany was Schrades Wondawood supplier into the 1960's.
