I just ordered a StreetBeat and it should be here Tuesday hopefully.
I was wondering how everyone felt about their Perrin Spydercos?

The little Rosarms beaver in this photo is a little like a short fat not pointy Streetbeat.

I would like to learn how everyone likes theirs?

Also are there any other Perrin designs planned?

I rather like the Street Beat, nice mildy recurved blade, flat-ground from fairly thick stock. Fills the hand well while still remaining fairly flat - works well in all four basic grips. Also, can't go wrong with VG-10 from Spyderco - the polish does show scratches fairly easily.
The sheath is pretty good too, not quite as good as custom Kydex (or similar thermoplastic), but definitely a step up from the typical fixed blade sheath in the 50-100 dollar range.

The only issue I find is the slipperiness of the micarta scales. It is somewhat offset by the great ergos, but I think sandblasting the scales or maybe putting light grooves into it might be a good idea - will have to try it at some point.

Smooth micarta is a bit slippy but it looks and feels so nice i am willing to have the trade off. I may have Normark make me a sheath depending on how I like the stock one.

So anyone have a StreetBowie?

Unsub,

I have a Steet Bowie and like it. I have the Steet Beat on my short list, but funds are quite tight for me right now.

I like my Street Bowie quite a bit, but for me it does feel like the blade is a little longer than I think I would prefer. The blade is between 4.75" - 5.0" depending on how you measure. Based on the feel of the handle and size, I would think 3.75" - 4.0" would be preferable. Based on my desire for the slightly shorter blade, my interest in the Street Beat is reasonably high.

The feel of the Perrin Bowie is Excellent in the handle and the sheath is well done IMO.

I am also a BIG fan of the Temperance. I have two. The Hossom Dayhiker is also a very nice one.

P.S.: I am KG from SYKco. PM me there if you have any more specific questions. I check here on occassion, but not enough. I might miss a question here.

I have both the Street Bowie and Street Beat. I like 'em both a lot. They feel very secure in the hand. The micarta of the Street Beat has not seemed too slippery to me, but I really like the squishy feel of the handle inserts on the Street Bowie.

Both are very handy as utility knives in the kitchen.

The Street Beat is much easier to carry about.

One complaint. In both cases, the sheath tends to dull the edge on the forward curve.
