I find myself drawn to the original Street Beat. This is despite the fact that I only carry light folders (D4 and DF2), but there is something about it that is calling my name...

What do you (all) think of it?
Talk me into (or out of) it!

I've always appreciated a nice fixed blade and the street beat has been on my radar for a little while now. Only complaint I have heard is the sheath retention could be better.

My brother has one and really likes it . Very cool, handy and attractive fixed blade.

On his sheath, the retention was pretty good when new but slowly loosened up. Still usable but not ideal. He now carries it in a leather KSF pocket sheath that works very well.

I was going to suggest the KSF pocket sheaths as well. I also carry mine in a leather belt sheath hijacked from a Blind Horse Knife. I have a considerable amount of small fixed blades and the Street Beat is one of my favorites and, although designed with self defense in mind, it is more than suitable for every day tasks.

Very usable and functional design. Much improved with some custom sheathwork, great for pocket carry with some low-profile kydex. On mine, the front edge of the finger cutout had some really sharp corners but a few passes with a diamond file took care of that and made it a lot more comfortable. Highly recommended.

Its a really nice knife, and the sheath works well for me with the G-clip, but I never tried it in the pocket. I am looking forward to the lightweight version.

Sold mine recently during some sort of senior moment.....need to remedy that, soon.

I always have a small fixed blade on me, recently got the leather KSF sheath that holds a knife and has another slot for credit cards, drivers license, etc. Way cool and eliminates my need to carry a separate wallet.

Just need another Street Beat, now!

I took a look at the BK24. One of the things that is calling to me about the Street Beat is the smooth, hand filling handle.

I figured out another thing about it (and myself). The size, weight, blade to handle ratio and balance are the same as the Dall Deweese (my grandfather's) that I have on my desk.

I've been exploring options for a leather sheath. A knife like this just cries out for leather. Thanks for the tip on KSF. I didn't know about them. I'm also exploring armoralleather. Is there anybody else that I should be looking at?

It feels awesome in the hand. Once you hold.one you'll have to buy.one lol

This! Like many Spyderco knives they often don't make sense to you until they are in your hand. Out of my production small fixed blades the Bark River Essential and the Fallkniven WM1 are the only ones that come to mind that come even close to having ergos as good as the Street Beat.

Yes! I love the feel of my Boker Applegate-Fairbairn Fighting Knife. It fills my hand wonderfully, and the balance is great, but toying with a six inch, double edged combat dagger is likely to draw a little too much attention and it REALLY doesn't EDC well.:)

Hey Cactus, shoot me a PM (or email) when you get a chance. I was going to put my SB up in the exchange here when I got around to it, but I'm happy to give another citizen of spydieville first dibs. Hit me up for details.

I looked at the lightweight, but the classiness of the full tang and the micarta are worth both the price and weight for me.

Don't know about it? Google SPFB15PBBK
Not full tang
FRN handles
Polymer Sheath

The Street Beat is a great knife. I carried it weak side next to an extra magazine. The sheath for me was perfect. The fit and finish is great... as good as many customs that I ever handled. I have used it for EDC and it make a great small game hunting knife. If you have a problem with retention, you can easily bend the kydex in around the handle with a hairdryer, heat gun, etc. I sometimes put a little dab of Amazing Goop at the opening to provide some extra grip.

I thought the sheath was "molded Boltaron," whatever that is.

Street Beat is nice, but given the price point and intended purpose, would be nice to have fancier handle materials.

I'm also looking forward to the lightweight version - should make a great utility blade for lightweight camping, or a complement to a larger outdoors blade.
