How do you all cope with stress?? I am stressing out and wondered if anybody had any techniques they regularly use that have proved themselves helpful. Thanks

teeball stand, water jugg and louie ville slugger... That prevented me from using it on someone else.

If my stress is mainly mental, and not physical, I try to bury my head in an enjoyable project.

If emotional, find a hottub or something of that nature where you can be alone, do some deep breathing, and just let the surrounding world fade away

Luckily my job has a sort of built in stress reliver, which helps a little bit. I am a Drill Sergeant so I am expected to yell at people. :p
I find a little yelling makes me feel better. :D just kiddin' sort of

KnifeAddictAK has some great suggestions. I have not tried the milk jug thing though I might have to see how it feels.

Regards,

Nick

1. I smoke. Bad habbit, I know, but it's kept me from collecting trophy heads.

2. Take a long, hot shower.

3. Give the dog or cats some scratches behind the ears

4. Lay my head on my wife's ample bossom.

5. Find something wooden that needs to be smaller, then hit it with a khukuri repeatedly.

6. Watch the clouds.

7. Feed the birds.

When you're stressed, don't obsess about it. If it's on the job, take a break for lunch. Forget the Big Mac -- go for a long walk instead. Exercise works under any circumstances, physical activity changes your metabolic rate and washes the stress out of your system.

If you can get together with other people and swim or run or bicycle, better yet, but don't talk shop, talk about the activity itself. At least once a week go somewhere and do something that you would have put off.

Go to the zoo and try to figure out why the monkeys are having more fun than you are! :D

Exercise, exercise, exercise, until it becomes a habit, until you are addicted to it. It is a scientific fact that it causes your body to release endorphines which give you a sense of well-being.

Pray. Humans have a God-shaped void in them that nothing else will fill, no matter what substitutes they try.

Learn the difference between being concerned and worrying. If you have a problem, concern can move you to take positive action to resolve it. Worrying about it is totally useless and unproductive.

when it's warm enough, I jog... 6km is my usual nightly jog, I have gone for a couple hours(takes about 2km to hit a pace).

usually in the summer I'll be home long enough to drop my stuff off and change clothes, then I'm walking and relaxing till supper. It's only $30 for a 1yr pass to our zoo, and thats only 1km away.

1. Prayer

2. Exercise

3. Play with beautiful bear-like shepherds. :)

4. Zone out on mindless television.

5. Think about positive things.

6. During my first semester in law school, one week before final exams our house was burglarized and the POS stole my laptop. I lost all of the outlines, notes, etc that I prepared to use for exam study. All I had remaining were the books themselves. I was pretty upset to put it lightly. As crazy as it sounds, all I could think to do was take a bath. Anyhow, for whatever reason it's better to cry in a bath full of water. The tears seemed to disappear in the water. I came out renewed.

Smile, even if you don't wanna. It's been proven that when your mouth curls up in a smile, it triggers endorphine releases. Something about pressure points around the upper cheek area. You all probably think I'm joking, but I'm not.

Meditation and deep breathing works wonders. Go to the mall and check out women.

I absolutely agree with all this 1 through 5...except I'm not sure about the bear-like shepard thingy. :)

Ken Collucci is a VERY CALM PERSON. Please don't think he would ever make a sound like that himself. But when he is stressed or depressed, he hurries home, where his children can generally be heard halfway across town going AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Here are a few stress relievers that I use:

Shoot some pool while listening to your favorite music--maybe while drinking a beer.

Take a drive to some part of town or the county that you've never been to.

Fix or repair something around the house that you've been putting off.

And lastly, and this one works the best for me, write a letter (not E-mail, but a real pen-and-paper letter) to an old friend.

Good luck,
Allen.

"Some call it chillin, some are relaxin, but in these islands we call it chillaxin.

Chillax, Chillax, We brake um down for you..." :D

Take a long drive where there's no traffic and really beat on the car for a while. This works unless the car is the source of the stress, in which case do something else listed in this thread. ;)

My stress relief used to involve several 2x4s' and a steel I beam. Now it is meditation and exercise. Ain't old age wonderful?

Your avatar just reminded me of a great way to beat stress. Go visit some friend with a really little kid, and teach the kid how to make faces. :D

It's so funny when you stick your tongue out at them and they stick their tongue right back out at you. Don't do this with the mom around :p

Punch a punching bag helps.

Lifting weights is alright.

Or taking a run. I live in a quiet area so when exams came around, I started running at about midnight. Nice and quiet, gets your mind off things and when you're done you feel a lot better.

That's fun, but teaching someone else's little ones about "the rule book" is even better. For whatever reason, every time I leave my best friend's house her children keep asking about some crazy rule book. Mom says, "Don't do that, it's bad for you." Kamaya replies, "Mommy, is that in the rule book? (insert adorable, little mug here) I'll have to check and see." Picks up any book on the floor, looks pensively at it, and says, "Hmmm... ahuh.... nope, I don't see it in the rule book mommy."

They're so adorable. :D :)
