I recently picked up a stretch II and I love it but I've seen pictures of some that have stepped jimping on the top of the blade, mine has mille style jimping, is this right?

I believe Spyderco recently changed their jimping. The "stepped" jimping is the older style from a year ago and more (give or take). Yours is the new stuff.

I agree, love the knife. I just wanted to make sure it was the real deal! Using it already!

Oh I think you'd be able to tell if it was a knock off. ZDP isn't something you can fake for $40. Give it a quick sharpen and you'll know.

I really like the old "tank tread" style jimping that's now disco'd.

So am I reading this right? Have they changed the jimping on the CF/ZDP version of the Stretch II to the style they'll be using on the FRN ones. Dang, I may have to buy a new one. :D

Yup, and the blade is that finish as well. It appears that some of the older models had a higher polish on the blade. Mine is one of the sharpest out of the box I have ever had.

Well, he didn't exactly mention that it is CF, did he?

Maybe the first FRN models begin to be available??

Then again, maybe it is just that CQI thing, and they really changed the jimping. Would make sense since the FRN models (will) come that way, too.

Which is exactly why I phrased my question the way I did.

Was fairly certain that was the case. Sal had mentioned a while back that future runs of the CF/ZDP Stretch II would have the new style jimping. So, while the change was expected, finding out it has already occurred was still a pleasant surprise. :D

The FRN Stretch is not available yet, so it has to be the CF model.

I am happy with the older style jimping on my older Stretch 2, but I prefer the newer style and will enjoy it on my FRN/ZDP Stretch when they come out. Both work well, but the finer jimping does seem to give me more purchase. I haven't tried gloves with my Stretch 2 yet, maybe the older style jimping works better with gloves? Either way the knife itself is just a jewel, tremendous ergos and a great solid piece of ZDP 189 with peel ply CF, it is hard to go wrong with that. My Stretch 2 has pretty much took over my right front pocket, just as my Superhawk has taken over my left front pocket. They are both the top 2 folders I have ever used, and they only get booted out of the pocket when they get dull (it takes a while, especially with the Stretch), and I make it a point to sharpen them up as fast as possible to get them back in service. I love those knives.

Oh, Oh, gotta check my Stretch 2's. Now I'm intrigued!

oh well already have a FRN stretch on pre-order so will see what the difference is.

well double checked and I have one of each!

My EDC version is the "newer" style while my safe queen is the older style and similar to the original stretch jimping.
