Does anyone use this knife for EDC? I have yet to see and handle one, but they look like a pretty cool knife. If not, what do you use it for? Hunting, camping?

The 889 is one of the Strider/Buck collaborations that are designed for extreme use....

Buck's rugged Tactical knives are engineered for trained professionals in military; law enforcement; fire, search & rescue, first response, and survival, as well as other demanding situations where "failure is not an option."

I've handled one of these at my local dealer and I think it is an absolutely outstanding knife. There is only one thing that keeps me from buying one for myself. It's just too darn big for me to EDC. I personally wish that Buck would release a smaller version of this knife (say in the 6.75 to 7 inch size range). I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd like to see Buck offer a version of the Strider PT to match this version of the Strider SMF. I think it would be a tremendous seller. I've heard nothing but good reviews of the model 889 SBMF and I think a more pocketable sized version would be a winner for all.

I carry mine in my small daypack, I did try to carry it in my pocket a few times, but it gets on the heavy side.

I still want to see a plain edge version, with G-10, and a stonewash or satin finish, and an ATS-34 blade.

That's good to know. It is a great looking knife, but I don't want to end up with something I really cant use.

TLC...Can you post a stick pic

Do you know how long I stared at that before I figured out what you meant by "stick pic"....HAHA :D

of the 889 next to a 110? Thanks...
Goose.

I have this one left over from the "Buck Slogan" thread.

Will that work?

This is the picture I really get a kick out of, a 110 next to a 446.

The 446 next to the 889.
Let's see that pic :)

Not needed...just messing with ya.
That 446 looks like a monster!!!! Have ya ever lugged that around?

Jim...what's the diff between the 882 and the 889 beyond the blade finish and serrations?

Heres another Goose, only this is a 882 (same size as the 889)
along with a 110 and a Tempest. I dont think that the 882/887/889 are too big! I love them. EDC in my pocket! Sturdy knives too.

wh4f, what's the handle material on that 110? Looks real nice!

My 446 Goliath when I had it was sheath carry only. It is too big for a pocket unless maybe a cargo pocket? It is really light though!

The 882 has an ATS-34 serrated blade with the texturing on the blade
also available with G-10 handles and thicker liner lock.
The 889 is black coated 420HC.
Other than that not much. :D

Wish they had that 882/9 with ATS-34 withOUT serrations :(
