-I don't have time to write a list that long :) If cutting is your primary use for a knife, there are much better choices. If your job (or mental fantasy) require the ultimate in indistrucability then the Ar might make sense. In the end, it's your money.

So I was correct in my initial assesment of your troll-post. :barf:

If you don't like my question, don't answer on my thread. If I was trolling you'd be doing exactly what I want you to.

Anybody know of an online review of knives of this ilk?

I guess it could make sense for a very few people. I'm sure Strider is glad to sell to anybody with the $. I can't ever see an average Joe carrying one EDC. I never thought I'd see a folding sharpened prybar...

Where is the question? These are only derogatory insinuations. :thumbdn:

I have done some work with an ER Fulcrum IID which is more overbuilt, the review is still in progress but you can read it on the website.

I wonder if some folks in N.O's would like a knife they can carry in their pockets that can hack, pry, puncture, and stand up to serious abuse?

"You don't shave with a maul, and you don't split wood with a razor"-Duane Dwyer.

It is just about tool selection, and everyones needs are different. I wouldn't use my GB to cut sushi, and I wouldn't pound a sushi knife through an aircraft fuselage. For what I use a knife for, in some circumstances, the AR/GB is perfect. For other chores, it isn't. I have found that for a majority of my daily chores, a Strider SMF or SNG and a Atwood Prybaby are a pretty good combo. With that said, in my work enviroment I have found that for larger prying and rescue chores the bigger Strider fixed blades in conjunction with an Emerson P-Sark work very well.

I recently baught a Buck Strider tarani 882 plein edge.
Do you ever test this knife?
Is there so much a differences with real Strider AR that justified the price diff?
this is just a naive question, i am not trolling so don't get upset ! :)

PS : Honestly, i am a bit desapointed with this BS 882.
The blade is really nice, but i don't like the "paper-sand" aspect they have chosen for the part which is up to the edge...
Really thinking about polishing that part...
But is it easy to do it for a two-left-handed guy like me?

3/16" thick, flat ground S30V? This thing can't possibly cut well. I'm sure it's indistructable, but this is way over the top.

Anybody have a real reason to carry a folder like this?

I guess if ARs or GBs don’t rock your boat you could go buy knives from a guy that all have the same handle, the same blade in different sizes, and cool names. I think he has a 3-year waiting list out of Phoenix. :D

Hey Freddy. I often carry a Buck,Strider 882 as a travel knife and in the water. Its mainly because I don't want to lose a custom in those scenarios. I like the customs better, but the 882 is a GREAT knife.

As far as the stippled top of the blade, let me tell you why that is there. I have taken numerous classes with Steve Tarani and others prominent trainers (Ernie Emerson, Bram Frank, etc.). I have done numerous crisis deployments with a folder in both one on one competition and against a clock. Here is what we found. From the front pocket, you just can't beat a waved Emerson for speed. For non waved knives, the fastest and most positive deployment means was from the front appendix, you grasp the knife with the strong hand and grab the top of the blade to open it with the support hand. I have won numerous classes with this method. The top of the 882's stippling is to enhance this method of low profile deployment. If I am carrying a gun, it is front appendix, with a knife in a pocket. In cases where I can't carry a gun, I carry a knife in the exact same place-front appendix. Many pro's utilize this method of carry as being very low profile, and very secure. I hope that helps.

I have a new favorite knife: a TADGear/ Strider GB RG, with the tritium inserts in the thumbstuds!! This knife is awesome!! It is my new favorite knife!!! I LOVE how the G-10 feels in my hand. The liner appears to be thicker on the new GB, than on the standard AR. This is my new best friend! and new favorite knife!!! It is awesome!! If you are an AR/GB fan, you gotta get one of these TADGear AR's or GB's! It is the best of the best!!

ArtSig: You will LOVE the AR with RG G-10!!!

Are you collecting this knife just for the sake of collecting? (As your name implies?) Or are you going to beat the hell out of it?

Hey KC, I already have TWO....the Ranger green and the black TADGear! I do like them and that contoured handle really does add another component to an already fine knife. Of course I guess it could just be my "mental fantasy" or something, but then again, it is my money so I think I'll buy the knives I want. How 'bout you???

Call it a hunch, but I think TheKnifeCollector likes his Strider. The question remains... Are you going to use it?

Does it really matter? It is his money. A simple thing would be that if a AR/GB was not right for you, then for you to not buy one. Right now they dont work for me hence why I have a SNG.

I use mine all of the time (brown AR), mostly for working around the house. I also always carry a slip joint for finer cutting tasks.

If one knife size could do everything we'd have all stopped with a SAK. But when I need to do heavy cutting I like a big overbuilt folder or fixed blade, for finer cutting or work around the office it's a slip.

There are cutting chores that my AR can run circles around my smaller thinner knives, so it's their perfect compliment.

I really don't see the point of asking if he is going to use it, many people here buy knives and never put them in their pocket.. doesn't make them any less of a person. Thousands of people own those ridiculous Frost bowie's (maybe you??), if they tried to use them they would probably break. They still enjoy the knife.

Personally, I beat the crap out of all my knives equally.

Yes, The Knife Collector loves HER Strider!! Yes, I will use it!! I use ALL my Striders.
