Strider folders -- your opinion please?

Like James Bond walking into the room in a tuxedo. All dressed up, but can kick someone's butt real good. ;)

Part of the Strider appeal it the men behind it. The owners are very nice people with vast military experience who are creating tough knives.

In my modest weenie cutting chores, I am prone to take the Sebenza out for general chores; and I carry my SmF with a sense that I might cut myself out of a vehicle or pry a jammed door open if I have to. And I like flicking them both. One is set up for left hand; the other for right hand. Easier to grab with whatever hand's free.

I would say theyre very tough and the warranty is forst rate.

now Sebenzas are a close but not the same animal for me

I think I would go with the Sebenza over the Strider at first in retrospect.

depends on what youre gonna do with the knife, though.
 
Follow up...

Well, I bought both a SnG and SMF that arrived on the last day of 2004. I am very happy with both of them.

The blade on the SMF isn't centered. But both knives open and close smoothly and seem extremely strong and well-made. Hardly a scratch or scuff mark on them although not perfect, which is fine by me as it makes it easier for me to put my first scratch on them without shedding tears.

Enjoy your new Striders Cognitivefun! The more you carry one, the more you will understand what all the fuss is about! I myself fluctuate these days between an SMF or a Large Classic Sebenza, depending on my mood for that day...( HARD CORE RAMBO mode or " Pass the Grey Poupon" mode...) ;)

I will let you guess which knife is for which mood! :D
 
I've had an SnG for about 2 years now and carried it every day. While I like the knife, the ergonomics of it just don't work well for me. It is an undeniably tough knife, however. Having just purchased an Al Mar SERE folder, I think I'll be selling the tanto SnG. For the really hard use I'll use my Busse AD.
