Strider folders ?

I narrowed my choice for first Strider folder to:

AR or SMF.

Which would you recommend and why?

I had an AR that I carried for the last three weeks or so. I just sold it and now I'm looking for a user SnG.

The AR is very thick and VERY wide. The pictures and specs don't do it justice, when you pick it up you will say, "this thing is massive"

It's a great knife and I liked it, but I think an SnG or a PT would fit in my pockets better.

Anyone got one they're looking to unload, email me at droc217@comcast.net

The great thing about these knives is that if you buy it and think something else would fit you better, you will have NO problem reselling it.

You guys are killing me :D ........fish or cut bait..........GB or AR....... ......... just wish I could go to a place where they had all models and hold each one.

I do have mine narrowed down, but not sure if it is available like the way I want it. I want a brown handled, tanto blade with thumb studs, no hole in blade..........is this possible ? Thanks for all the help.

Robbie Roberson ;)

P.S. And please don't show me any more pics......... I'm starting to see these things in my sleep.

Don't look here or here Robbie.

This is the only knife I've ever regretted trading away. And for Robbie, it's not a picture of a Dwyer Custom SMF Chisel Ground Tanto with Razor Wire finish and Trisula. Oh ya, MilDot too. I'm an idiot. I'm hopefully in the process of getting another one. :)

The AR is a great knife, but a real big bundle to carry. The SMF or SNG is still alot of knife, but much easier to carry in an EDC situation. The SNG is my personal choice.

Hi Robbie. It is easily possible if you want a GB. They make them available with grooved coyote brown G10 scales, it is a tanto because it is a GB, and it has thumb studs and no holes because, well, it's a GB, and that's standard.

If on the other hand you want a brown G10 Tanto, thumbstud only SMF or SnG, good luck. That would be in the relm of Mick Strider customs (MSC) or Duane Dwyer customs(DDC). Availability is scarce and the price reflects it. My 1 DDC cost me $900.00
Let me know if you need any help or dealer info.

See guys, I'm new at this Strider stuff, so the more you show me, the more I slobber........ :D . I am a SOG kinda guy, with a couple ERs in the mix, and a Sebenza, which I have never opened over 10 times :( . I think this Strider would make a good EDC "user".

Oilman, some people are weak when it comes to pics like those, not me though. Razor wire finish ? ........... :grumpy: Man that is one awsome looking knife.

Nitrox1, looks like you hit the nail on the head. Would you care to send or give me a couple of trusted dealers that might have a brown g-10, grooved handled, and tanto blade with double thumb studs ? I looked but can't seem to find one with this model. Thanks guys for all the good info. and advice.

The GB can be had with the CB G10:

If you want a CB G10 SMF or SnG, it's going to have to be a custom.

Robbie , if it were me I'd go with an SNG , plenty tuff but practical for carry . For me the AR and GB are too big . They would be a pouch carry . That Oilman plays dirty !

Robbie, see Chads link. Also try Tad Gear, blueline gear, and MDtactical. Sounds like you want a coyote brown GB. Price should be in the neighborhood or $350-375. I have one and will try and post a pic of it for you.

Robbie,
Top knife is a Coyote brown Strider GB, middle is a Dwyer custom SMF sheepsfoot, bottom is a customized Strider GB (by Eric Blair)

Bawaaaaaaaa  !!!!!!! the one on top is the one, man what great looking knives they all are though !

Nitrox1, is that one on top yours ?? :eek

OK guys, I am in the short rows.........customs are very nice, but I don't think I would carry it if it were much more special than it already is. I have a tendency to hoard, polish and lock them up.

So if I stick to a stock GB, like the one in the top of Nitrox1 picture, I may succeed in breaking this bad habit. I really appreciate all the cool pics. and info./advice, it sure makes it nice to talk to people who actually have these.

These things are really addictive to look at, it would be all over if I held one and snapped that blade open....

Quick question for all you Strider guys out there. I know both are plenty strong, but is the AR or SMF supposed to be stronger?

Seems like Mick said the framelocks, PT-SnG-SMF, were stronger. I may be wrong but I think I'm rememberin right.

Dennis---the AR probably would be considered stronger because of it's size, however the SMF is an extremely robust framelock which gives me a more secure feeling for vigorous, hard use. You're not going to break either of these unless you roll a tank over it.

Looks like an SMF for me then. :D Too bad they don't come in CB or stonewash.

if and when you sell, can you email me
